I absolutely love this song a lot for just how weird it is and I always thought of it as Paul commenting on sexism and how women are viewed and portrayed in bureaus, and I was disappointed when all he says about it is that the idea of a “disposable secretary” struck him as being funny. *sigh*. I still hold my original read, though, despite Paul saying that it was just something that he had a laugh about…

Oh, and then there’s the cover for the single…..paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

Okay I actually do like this song though.  It’s the “She can be a belly dancer…” bridge bit that makes the song though.  I love the pitch up step after every statement.

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I love playing this for people and seeing how blown away they are when I tell them it’s a Macca song.

Nice…I had vague plans to buy one of the MS-20 Minis several years ago but never followed through. They don’t have sequencers, anyways.

They played this on 6 Music this morning; it was the first time I’d heard it.

I wasn’t a massive fan.

First listen is very much a head scratch and a huh. It grew on me over time; sandwiched between ‘Coming Up ‘ and ‘On The Way’ (which is probably my favourite Paul song) it was played a hell of a lot, and I love it.

‘MC2’ is a fabulous album but my god you’ve got to play it to get there as it’s not your typical McCartney album. I love ‘Wild Life ‘ for the same kind of reason.

I like that this song has Kraftwerk vibes. It reminds me of ‘Pocket Calculator’.
