Finally got around to listening to this song, apparently recorded by Paul back in 1971 (at around the time of the Ram sessions…?).
I like it. What it may lack in having a classic hook and full-bodied development (it seems to be an extended ditty or riff), it nevertheless has what many songs (including a few McCartney songs over the years) don’t have — a je ne sais quoi of inspiration.
And the riff it’s repeating sounds good and pleases the ear. Plus Paul is obviously using the whole thing as a vehicle for indulging some uninhibited screaming — which is always a treat from a screamer as talented as he is.
(I also like the lovely Linda’s voice popping up here and there in the background, along with those inspired uses of sliding, or gliding, vocalisms combined with guitar chord reverbs.)

Yip.
I think there is a mono mix which is true (instead of being collapsed stereo) and has alternate sound effects.
From Beatles Rarity
“Oh Woman , Oh Why” was used as the b-side for Paul’s first post-Beatles single “Another Day ” and was never released on an album until it was included with the bonus material on the latest remastered edition of Ram . The single was released in February 1971 and radio stations of the day were sent promotional mono singles for AM radio airplay. The mono version of “Oh Woman , Oh Why” heard on these now rare promo singles is not simply a fold-down of the stereo version but a completely alternate mix of the track. There are a few subtle differences and some say that the gunshot effects are louder here.

Great little hardly known song, from the man who has a lot of great little songs, that aren’t that well known.
Like “Give Ireland Back To The Irish”, ”Mary Had A Little Lamb”, “Little Woman Love”, “Hi Hi Hi ”, “C Moon”, “Thank You Darling”, “Mama’s Little Girl”, “I lie Around”, “Country Dreamer”, “Juniors Farm”, “Sally G”, “Girl School”, “Cut Me Some Slack” and soooooooooooooooooooooooo many more.
And that’s just some of the lesser songs from his amazing solo career. The man is a genius!

Am i getting it right that in the song Paul shoots the woman with her gun? Paul does sing “what have I done?” and then there is gunfire (and Paul fired the gun in the studio).
It’s a fantastic song, one of Paul’s best.
