Looks like they were nominated for some teen music awards.

I listened to a few seconds of their song Worth It

I wonder what made someone think to pair it with Monkberry Moon Delight .

Desperation? In the vain hope someone might give a crap about the band they stuck their name to Paul’s.

Ah, it seems they are that dreadful thing – five solo singers who didn’t make it through bootcamp during the the second series of The X Factor USA, and so turned into a group by the Devil Simon Cowell and put into the groups category. They came third.

Much is explained. Another Cowell crime against music.

In the chorus of this song I couldn’t understand what he was saying so I looked it up, as usual, but I got 2 different results that pop up about 50% or the time each.  Which one is correct?

Google Play and Metro Lyrics say:

“Catch up (catch up)
Super fury
Don’t get left behind (get left behind)”

A-Z Lyrics and Lyrics Freak say:

“Ketchup (ketchup)
Soup and puree (soup and puree),
Don’t get left behind (get left behind)”

Edit:  The Paul McCartney website has:

“Ketch up Ketch up Super doorsy
Don’t get left behind
Ketch-up behind
Be left behind
Be left behind”

for the first chorus, and:

“Ketch-up Ketch up
Cats and kittens
Don’t get left behind (get left behind)
Behind get left behind
Be left behind”

for the second chorus.

Edit Dos:  All the I checked all the lyric sites again and they all have the cats and kittens in the second chorus.

I always heard “super du-rag”

I just listened to the audio track isolation on page 1 and it definitely sounds like:

“Ketchup (ketchup)
Soup and puree (soup and puree),
Don’t get left behind (get left behind)”

That’s just weird that theirs 2 different lyrics out there that appear half and half.

I definitely

have never heard an ‘s’ in the middle of the phrase. I’m not sure how anybody came up with that interpretation.

Yeah the first chorus sounds almost definitely like soup and puree on the isolated vocal track, so no “door[s]y”

Cat[s] and kittens

These I have never heard.

But the second chorus is definitely “cats and kittens”.

Yeah it does say “cats And kittens.” I never noticed that, although I thought originally the lyric website was saying that “cats and kittens” was the first chorus. Thats the ‘s’ that I didn’t hear in “soup and puree”

With all of this being said, I have no idea what any of these lyrics mean.

Yeah I came on here with a question and then @Joe answered my question almost a year before I even had it with that video.  I honestly never noticed the “cats and kittens” in the second chorus before today.  Also the lyrics Paul’s website are clearly wrong, here’s even a bunch of comments on them saying that they’re wrong.  This song was written for his children and honestly makes no sense.  I’m just glad I no know the real lyrics so I can sing along with the song and make no sense as well.

Perhaps the first chorus is “super furry,” referring to the cats in the second chorus.

Google lyrics has “super fury”.  However, the official Ram songbook which I purchased years ago (which also has lots of photos by Linda inside, plus a couple of notes by Paul himself) says it is “soup and purée”.  Thus the preceding “Catch up!” has obvious resonances of “Catsup” (or the American “ketchup”).

Paul McCartney recently mentioned again that ‘monk’ = ‘milk’ in his children’s young language:

I was very into surrealism at that particular time, so I wrote songs like ‘Monkberry Moon Delight ‘ which is again totally surreal. The word ‘monkberry’ actually came from our kids! That was how they said milk when they were little – “can I have some monk?” – you know, in the way that kids get funny names for things. So, ‘Monkberry Moon Delight ‘ to me was like a milkshake!

So, I shouldn’t have used that song in the Baker’s Dozen round about drugs and alcohol?

I’ve known that one for a while.  I’m pretty sure I learned it from Joe’s article on the song.
