I wrote that when I was fourteen just after I’d lost my mother. I don’t think the song was about that but of course, any psychiatrist getting hold of those two bits of information would say it was. It’s fairly obvious with a title like ‘I Lost My Little Girl’.
Dating from 1956 or 1957, ‘I Lost My Little Girl’ was the first song written by Paul McCartney on the guitar.
McCartney performed it live on several occasions as a solo artist. One version, from 25 January 1991, was released on the album Unplugged (The Official Bootleg). See more…

I’m doing some song features for the McCartney covers albums – Choba B CCCP , Unplugged (The Official Bootleg), Run Devil Run . The cover versions don’t really need forum threads, but there are a few McCartney originals here and there.
I figured that McCartney’s first-ever guitar composition really does deserve a thread, so here it is. He also discusses the song with Rick Rubin on McCartney 3,2,1.

It’s essential the Beatles recording, from the January 1969 ‘Get Back ‘ sessions, is included here with John on lead.
One of the first bootlegs I got had this on it and I loved it, still do. It is so much fun. John’s improvisations are fantastic. This will hopefully appear in the upcoming documentary, it really has to.
