I can’t be the only one who thinks the title is Paul trying to appear as some sort of ‘Edgelord’? It’s a nice enough song, it won’t stay in my head but the title is just stupid. Either say “f**k you” or don’t Paul.

I think this is pretty disappointing. It’s hard to believe this sound is what Paul is actually feeling artistically and that this song isn’t just catering to modern pop trends. And subject matter aside, this is not Paul’s strongest lyric. Makes me kind of sad that someone of Paul’s talent and caliber thinks this is good music. It may be a good product though, and that may be the intention.
Also agree with ASJ, don’t pick a lyric and be non-committal about actually saying it. Why try and keep the lyrics clean when the word you’re saying most of isn’t by nature? Either come out and say it or be more subtle and clever about presenting the same idea, something we all know Paul is more than capable of.

Incoming rant:
Sorry, Paul, but I didn’t like it. Come On To Me and I Don’t Know still sound great and retain my hopes for the rest of Egypt Station, but this isn’t my thing. Sure, this is Paul’s way of experimenting on a new horizon, putting on some edge and attempting to appeal to a younger audience, but IMO it’s a very desperate attempt, if you ask me. Those chipmunk backing vocals in the chorus are pretty annoying and it just doesn’t seem right hearing Paul’s aged voice over a track in this style.
But, hey, if you like the song, good for you.

Paul’s comment on the song:
With this one I was in the studio with Ryan Tedder whereas the rest of the album has been made with Greg Kurstin… We were just thinking of ideas and little pieces of melody and chords and the song just came together bit by bit. And then I would try and make some kind of sense of the story. So it was like ‘Come on baby now. Talk about yourself. Tell the truth, let me get to know you’ and basically I wanna know how you feel, you make me wanna go out and steal. I just want it for you. So that was the basic idea and it developed from there… sort of a love song, but a raunchy love song. There you go — fuh you.
For those who think he’s pulling his punches here – the just-say-it-don’t-cop-out argument some have made, “Fuh” does have a Beatles history. It echoes back to APPLE 8 in 1969, Brute Force’s King of Fuh, which saw only 1000 copies of the single pressed by Apple after EMI and Capitol had turned it down.

I must say that I don’t care for this song at all. Essentially, it’s a modern pop song with Paul McCartney . It’s not as good as the initial single that came out two months ago, and even that single wasn’t too great. I liked it, but “Come On To Me” is way too repetitive and slightly annoying, and “I Don’t Know” just feels a bit too bland, although there are positives for both. None of them touch his Beatles work.

I’m with ASJ, just say “f**k you” and get it done instead of trying to be edgy with the kids but still appease the parents. And what kind of lyric is “you make me want to go out and steal”. Come on Paul. Take 5 minutes out, grab a coffee, come back and write a better line.

Here’s the best song (most creative) that says f-you without actually saying the f word.
Lyrics
(first stanza omitted)
Love you
Love this town
Love this mother lovin’ truck
That keeps breaking lovin’ down
There’s only one four-letter word that’ll do
Love you
Love your cat
Love this house
Well I can’t believe myself
That I’m lovin’ getting out
Love talkin’
Love fightin’
The thought of never seeing your lovin’ face
Some words that some words just have to replace
Love you
Love this town
Yeah, I’m sick and lovin’ tired of all your lovin’ around
There’s only one four-letter word that’ll do
Love you
Love you
Love this town
Yeah, I’m sick and lovin’ tired of all your lovin’ around
There’s only one four-letter word that’ll do
Love you
Love this town
Love this mother lovin’ truck
That keeps breaking lovin’ down
There’s only one four-letter word that’ll do
Love you
Love you
Love you
Love you, honey.

Haven’t posted here in a few years – popping back in to give my two cents on this, as I knew it would be divisive.
From the title, and the opening bars, I was girding myself up for disaster. But I actually love this. He’s clearly been actively listening to modern commercial pop and has set out to write and record something that could be a big chart hit in 2018, going whole hog on the production as well, and has achieved a successful and highly catchy emulation – at 76 years of age.
Now I hate Charlie Puth and all those hacks who would usually turn out something like this, so maybe this is just proof once and for all that I’ll forgive McCartney anything, but I don’t give a toss. We should all be so lucky to be this unserious, un-self-conscious and creatively restless in our old age.

The backing track is good and some of the lyrics and vocals are good but really it needs a remix (I hate that heavy crowd vocal effect) and as noted above some of the lyrics need to be rewritten (a strong stench of laziness that Paul has a tendency for – maybe that’s where the echoes of the ‘London Town ‘ era come from); for the life of me I cannot head the chorus without getting irked and wanting to turn it off.
