I just don’t see how a question about whether a song Paul wrote around 1970/71 was about John becomes another excuse to complain about Yoko’s supposedly “malign” effect on John, and Paul’s role in reuniting them several years after the song was written.

That broken record is so very tiresome. I hate how it is always dragged out and jammed into conversation after conversation. The Yoko complaints crammed in Here, There And Everywhere just bore me!

I think the connection flowed naturally from the bitterness of John and Paul’s dispute. As you know, all threads evolve as the discussion moves on and eventually this one too will run out of steam or derail.………All Things Must Pass .

 

Yoko’s emotional manipulation of John, and then when it suited her, the triggering willingly, or unwillingly of Paul’s protective feelings and fondness for John; in order for him, (and irony) to play a part in her machinations, is in my opinion still relevant……….. Well as relevant as all the other ‘broken records’ and topics done to death here and elsewhere in the last 50 years………..

 Apologies for further contributing to the derailment of this thread, but I feel like I need to say this.  John never did anything he didn’t want to do.  He chose of his own free will to go back to Yoko.  Yoko is not a witch who cast a spell on John.  He obviously viewed her as an equal (may even a superior?) in a way that he did not view Pang.  When John wanted to leave The Beatles and just be John, Yoko helped him to do that.  I think that is why so many Beatles fans resent her–they no longer had their fake image of John to hold onto.  All they had was the real John, which was kind of a let down.

I agree that hearing the same Yoko broken record is getting old.  As a fan of Yoko and her work, it gets extremely tiresome to read all of the hateful comments EVERYWHERE about her on the Internet, including this forum.  She deserves some respect.

I agree that John was responsible for his actions, but I don’t think acknowledging Yoko’s powers of persuasion are the same as accusing her of evil manipulation. I think some threads get out of hand with the hateration, but this wasn’t one of them. Personally, I get bored of seeing that accusation.

Yes, but none of us were there.  The idea that she was a manipulator is based on second-hand information that was read in a book.  There is no need to keep repeating negative things about Yoko in every thread.  Sorry if I’m unpopular for saying that.

So we can only say positive things about Yoko? People post critical comments about the Beatles themselves, and they should be free to do so. It’d be an extremely boring board if we became afraid to post the bad with the good.

You’re free to post whatever you like, and so is anyone else.  I am just stating my criticism of this board that most of what is posted about Yoko is negative, and my opinion that we could stand to stop repeating the same things over and over.  After a while, when I look at Yoko, all I see is people’s criticisms of her and not the many reasons that I like her.  That is my ONLY criticism of this board.  It is overall a wonderful place to hang out.  But then every message board everywhere is mostly negative on Yoko, so I can’t really expect much.
