I was expecting it to be OK but prepared for something dire…but I was pleasantly suprised. It was very good.
A lot of kids my age and younger see McCartney as this old bloke who is on TV sometimes with the ballads and the NaNaNaNaas, so its good that the Rock ‘N’ Roll screaming side of him has been shown.

That was a weird axe he was playing, though! What was up with that?

I’m curious about that too. Liked the song, can’t wait to hear a studio version since they reportedly recorded it. The dad jeans were a bit unfortunate, though.

RE: Axe Guitar
Yeah, that was really suprising. I thought it looked like a massive spirit level. Hope he hasn’t broken/lost the Hofner!
RE: Dad Jeans
Strange choice, especially with that white shirt. I’d’ve loved it is he’d worn a Nirvana t-shirt and Kris and Grohl wore Beatles t-shirts. Actually that might be a bit naff, but it would have been a funny touch.
As always though, its the music that really matters, and the music was very good indeed. I didn’t know that there was a studio verison- I’m looking forward to it.

Oh, he’s got it. He played it during his solo set last night.

My best guess is this

Commenting on the “dad jeans” is sillier than wearing them.

Getting offended by that comment is even sillier.

So apparently Dave Grohl has been working on a documentary on Sound City, am LA based studio where Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty among others recorded. In the course of this he met with and jammed with several music legends, including Sir Paul.
This tune comes from that session and will appear on the films soundtrack (due to premiere at Sundance this year) and may well be a single as well. As a single I think it has the legs for a top 10 spot. Imagine that. Paul is indeed timeless. And, I gotta say, I love me some Dave Grohl.

I think Pauls’ perfomance was really good. Sounded better to me than he has done in a little while. Don´t really know all that much about Nirvana (so don’t want to offend here) but is it me or did they look really tired/miserable/bored? Graet song though, as a lot of other people, it seems, I wasn’t expecting much but I was impressed.

Looking tired/miserable/bored is the only way to be “cool”, you see.
P.S.: Nirvana bores me to tears. I don’t get them.

I thought last night’s performance on SNL was even better than the 12.12.12 concert. He seemed to be even more comfortable performing it. I really hope this gets released as a single, I can see it playing well.

Well Dave sure didn’t look like he was tired, and the only other member of Nirvana was Novoselic, who sure looked tired but he haven’t played for almost 20 years, and he just aged I guess.
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.

Yeah, I bought it too. I was glad that, although the other songs on the Sound City soundtrack are only available if you buy the whole album, they allows CMSS to be purchased on its own.
Bit unfair, probably, but I did wonder if Kurt would have come up with something more melodic if he’d been around. For a McCartney song it’s strangely tuneless.
