McCartney wrote ‘Cosmically Conscious’ in 1968 in India, while studying Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It was performed live on just one occasion, during the Change Begins Within benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation on 4 April 2009.

McCartney shared a microphone with Bettye LaVette, and the other performers included Ringo Starr, Moby, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Sheryl Crow, Angelo Badalamenti, Hartford TM Choir, Donovan, Jim James, and Paul Horn.
