Because that would be too simple.
It started with Band On The Run , Pauls most successful and acclaimed album, then we got the two Macca album’s tied together – and then lost momentum. Ram was on its own as was Wings Over America . If the connected albums are being released together then Wings Over America should have been at the same time as Venus And Mars and WatSoS really but maybe it was done that way to generate interest in the two studio albums (i doubt it tho).
Its all just a little scatter-gun and slow for anyone to really care or get involved in it. Wings Over America was a year ago!! 1 album in a year!! We have 42 albums in total and so far, i think, we have had 5 in 4 years.
The Beatles wrote (much of in three cases), recorded and released 6 new albums in 3 years; Paul cant remaster that quickly.

With just over two weeks until release date and no word since first announcement are the latest two reissues (Venus And Mars , Speed of Sound) still coming out or have they got as fed up with the long delays as the rest of us, went off and done something else and completely forgotten? By the time these latest releases have finished Scotland will have gained independence and subsequently invaded and emphatically conquered England.

Given how much promotion there was for previous releases, I’d say these are NOT coming out…I hope I’m proven wrong, but I remember last summer in the run up to Paul’s US tour, the Wings Over America PR was EVERYWHERE…he starts his shows here in 10 days or so and NOTHING…very weird.

It may been held back so as not to compete with the AHDN release but if so its a daft policy, its not like sales were going to be massive anyway or that fans will chose one over the other. And some announcement would be nice.
Maybe there is an agreement between the Apple bosses that no ‘new’ Beatles product will go on release alongside a solo-Beatles one. Looking at the dates there was a full month between New and On Air: Live At The BBC so maybe one week is too little a window and if anyone tries it on they send Ringo round.

But this is roughly the same time as the “Help !” Blu-ray was released last year (along with Wings Over America ), and the “Yellow Submarine ” Blu was released the year before (along with Ram ). Something may be rotten in Denmark, methinks.

According to the Amazon dates Help ! was late June whilst WOA end of May in 2013 however there was only a couple of weeks between the YS blu-ray (4th June) and Ram (21st May). Maybe Ringo didnt get a friendly welcome from MPL.
There are still a few days to go so maybe both Wings Over The Speed Of Sound and Venus And Mars will appear with no promotion or content information – or they got the year wrong and it was meant to say 2015.

I really do think Pauls team made a mess of the remastering scheduled. Personally I think they should have released a boxset of all his albums in about 2015/16. Included would be a disc with all non-album singles and B-sides (like Past Masters ). Outtakes and demos would be collected on a Anthology type release. Although unlike the Beatles or John Lennon , Paul is still releasing music so does not (yet) have a book ended career, if a boxset was released It would have been wise to end on Flaming Pie since all albums after that are available on his new record label “Hear Music”.
What do you think of this idea.

Anything is better than the dribble we got which has turned into a drought.
Where the hell are Venus And Mars and Wings At The Speed Of Sound !!!?
I thought Apple were the most incompetent at reissues, seems like they have some tough competition as at least when Apple give a release date we get the damn thing – it might be wrong but at least we get something.

At the rate this whole reissue program is going, by the time they’re all released, it’ll be time to reissue the reissues!

I do think they should not have made all the books and boxsets. Even the Beatles remasters did not have individual boxsets for each album and McCartney’s solo albums aren’t even half as iconic as most Beatles albums

^well, some of them *are* (RAM, Band On The Run , WOA) but you’re right, many aren’t. I mean, do we really need a big box set for Wild Life or Press To Play , if we even get that far?

I think the Mono Vinyl Box Set may have something to do with this, but I don’t know for sure.
And I do agree, a lot of Paul’s albums weren’t as iconic as Beatles albums, or weren’t even iconic at all, like Wild Life , Press To Play , Off The Ground , Broad Street, the list goes on.
I think many of those non iconic albums don’t need the box sets like WOA or Ram , but the book would be nice.
And sorry for going a bit off topic here, but I think the Beatles remasters should’ve came with a box set for each album, and the regular albums all together in a set. Anyway, that’s my view point on the situation.

A box set of the lot? Yes. I have a wonderful set of all the Dylan CDs and it was only about $5 per album.

It definitely wouldn’t have been to much to ask.
Also I have just purchased the RAM boxset and must change my stance on the boxsets. Its wonderful, but I can understand how these are incredibly expensive to put together which is probably the reason why the reissues are taking so long. I do think they should now stop the boxsets because his too most iconic albums (Band On The Run and RAM) have already been done and we don’t really need a Pipes Of Peace boxset. However he should retain DVD’s with the special edition CD’s.

Still no word on these, I suppose?
I haven’t heard At the Speed of Sound other than Let ‘Em In and Silly Love Songs, but Venus And Mars is on par if not better than BOTR to me.
I’d like to get VaM, (I’ve actually only heard it on YouTube) but I’m not gonna get the 1993 remaster if a new one is supposed to come out this year.
