13 years into the Archive series we still wait for ‘London Town ‘ and ‘Back To The Egg ‘ and the rest of Paul’s catalogue and it’s now being lapped by other archive releases (the upcoming ‘BOTR’ contains the original US album) but which are not archive releases. My guess is everyone got bored and gave up with this series.
Honestly, if you start a project and you’re not fully committed to finishing it, why f*****g bother to start it in the first place??

I think it’s an ego thing in that the missing albums are either mediocre or too recent. ‘Wild Life ’ was the beginning of Wings, which is notable even if the album itself is very homemade (which can in itself be made a positive); ‘RRS’ had ‘My Love’ and an unreleased double album.
If you’re looking for the positive comments and not ‘that’s quite rubbish’, how do you spin ‘London Town ’ (Mull Of Kintyre ’ seems the easy answer but it did nothing in the US), ‘Back To The Egg ’, ‘Broad Street’ (where the focus will be on the Beatles covers and an appalling film) or ‘PTP’?
‘Pipes Of Peace ’ is an awful album but it was released alongside the acclaimed ‘Tug Of War ’.
Clearly Paul should embrace the albums and allow the flaws to be seen but that doesn’t seem to be his thing here and so it’s back to ‘Band On The Run ’ and wasn’t that brilliant.
Having written all that, Paul could surprise us all and release archive ‘LT’ and BTTE’ towards the end of 2024. But to be honest, does anyone care considering the content will likely be so meagre. ‘Mind Games ’ will be far more interesting and maybe we will also get expanded ‘Living In The Material World ’ and ‘Ringo’ sets.

Flaming Pie and Flowers In The Dirt were the only two satisfactory archive releases imo, aside from the fact that they were absurdly expensive. I guess Paul and I are on the same page where we are better off just pretending Broad Street and Press To Play don’t exist.
I wouldn’t mind a Press To Play Archive Edition without all the heavy 80s-era production on it (lose the echo, compressed drums, synthesizer overdubs, sax flourishes, etc.). There might actually be a pretty decent album hiding underneath all of that.
Plus, he could include some of the miscellaneous recordings from the mid-80s that he scrapped. He probably doesn’t like much of it, but I’m sure some would find it interesting.

There are a number of early mixes of ‘PTP’ tracks circulating on bootlegs online which don’t have the overproduction Paul eventually thru on the album. They are all far better than what was released.
It doesn’t become a fabulous album but it’s a far easier listen than the official release which is awful.

I read the delay is there are certain copyright issues with some of the material. Specifically, Paul’s Rockestra Theme with all those guests on it. That may be for Back To The Egg , but what about London Town ? I really have not heard much as to why the release of these has been stalled. The most recent was Flaming Pie in 2020, now over 4 years ago!!

I expect Paul wants a paired release as there will be little interest in either separately, that’s been the play with some of these, plus it speeds up the process as it’s been 14(?) years since this project started (I think it was 2010). The deeper fans would be more interested if it hadn’t taken so long but also at times the content is really lacking on these, especially when compared to what Sean is doing with John’s catalogue.
There seems to be an expectation that the Glasgow ’79 concert (Wings last aside from the Kampuchea charity show) should be on ‘BTTE’ but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if there are only a handful of tracks from there and the full concert gets a release some years down the line (same as what’s happened with ‘OHC’).
