Is anyone going to enter the “Colour in Paul” competition? I am currently working on it; haven’t coloured since I was 12 and I’m James’ age now, so you do the maths I don’t own either album yet, but I did pre-order the deluxe iTunes album of Tug Of War . If anything, the contest is loads of fun. As a child, I spent all of my free time colouring, drawing, or reading, so this is a nice way to get back into that They’re choosing the winners in the week of my birthday, so it’d be a lovely surprise if I’d be one of the lucky ones (not that I have any hope….hahaha)

I probably won’t enter, but enjoy.
I’m having a listen to Tug Of War right now, and I have to say it sounds very good just as it is–it doesn’t really need a remaster. Maybe that’s why the 1 and 2-CD versions of the reissue are a remix and not a remaster of the original mix? I’m interested to see what the remix sounds like.

Review of the bonus tracks from each release as posted on Wogblog and the Bootlegzone forum.
Tug Of War – Bonus Audio
01. Stop, You Don’t Know Where She Came From [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs.02. Wanderlust [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the intro is slightly edited (4 seconds). Complete on bootlegs.03. Ballroom Dancing [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs.04. Take It Away [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs.05. The Pound Is Sinking [Demo] (2015 Remaster)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs.06. Something That Didn’t Happen [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the intro is slightly edited . Complete on bootlegs, where it is known as ‘Hear Me Lover’.07. Ebony And Ivory [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the intro is slightly edited (3 seconds). Complete on bootlegs.08. Dress Me Up As a Robber/Robber Riff [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs. (3 separate demos in one)09. Ebony And Ivory [Solo Version] (B-side of Ebony And Ivory 12” single)
10. Rainclouds (B-side of Ebony And Ivory 7” single)
11. I’ll Give You a Ring (B-side of Take It Away single)
All 3, this is the first time they are out on an official CD.
Pipes Of Peace – Bonus Audio
01. Average Person [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs.02. Keep Under Cover [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the very same version as on bootlegs.03. Sweetest Little Show [Demo] (previously unreleased)
Speed corrected but the intro is slightly edited (3 seconds). Complete on bootlegs.04. It’s Not On [Demo] (previously unreleased)
NEW 3 minute demo!! Unreleased song. Many changes in rhythm, I think one of Paul’s daughters sings the first part.05. Simple As That [Demo] (previously unreleased)
NEW 3 minute 15 sec demo!! This is NOT the 1986 song. And not one of the best I’ve heard. Weird one that sounds like a John demo from the late 70’s!!06. Say Say Say [2015 Remix] (previously unreleased)
NEW!! This was a surprise, it’s an alternate vocal take from start to finish! On this one, Michael takes the lead vocal first, instead of Paul (as on the official record) and continues thru all the song (MJ sings Paul’s parts and vice versa). The only “remix” I can hear is on the backing track, which does sounds like the released version, mixed. Glorious 7 minutes of alternate take!07. Ode to a Koala Bear (B-side of ‘Say Say Say’ single)
First time on official CD.
08. Twice in a Lifetime (bonus track from 1993)
Nothing new
09. Christian Bop (previously unreleased)
A demo recording from 1984 on a compilation from 1980-83??. Still, the very SAME version as on bootlegs, and also, NOT “unreleased”, since it’s included on ‘Liverpool Oratorio ’ under a different treatment. Sometimes called on boots “Christian Pop”.

Have many of the others had a remix?
I haven’t been following this series much apart from one or two of the albums I didn’t have before and assumed they would all just be remasters.

Disc one of all editions bar the one in the deluxe box is a remix of the original album. For the remaster of the original album you have to buy the box (or see if its available to download online somewhere).

Thanks, but I’m confused. I have the Ram 2-CD version and it says it is remastered, not remixed?

He misunderstood your question. All editions of Tug Of War have the remix except the box. Tug Of War is the only one in the series that has been remixed.

I’ve just finished listening to the Pipes Of Peace and Tug Of War 2-CD versions.
Rainclouds, Twice in A Lifetime, It’s Not On, and Simple As That were all song that were new to me.
The remix of Tug Of War is very tasteful. It sounds a little more punchy and immediate than my old CD. I can see why they used the remix on the 2-CD version instead of the remaster (although I can’t compare the new remaster, since I don’t have it).

I really like the remix of Tug Of War too. Haven’t listened to the whole thing yet, but I love what I heard so far. I enjoyed the solo version of Ebony And Ivory too, as far as one can truly enjoy a song so heavy on the 80’s synthesisers… As much as I love Stevie Wonder, I think I prefer the solo version. Here Today sounds incredible; so much clearer now. It’s always been my favourite track on TOW, but it just became that much more beautiful.
Stupid question, though. There’s supposed to be online content which can be downloaded, and track 10 says (Link) so I suppose that’s where the download can be accessed…. but HOW? It obviously doesn’t do anything in iTunes. Does it only work on a physical CD (which would suck), or is there a way to make it work?

I dont have the cd’s and no idea about any download content but track 10 is a link track to go into ‘Dress Me Up As A Robber’, its not a link you can click on. Kind of like on ‘Wild Life ‘ with the ‘Mumbo’ and ‘Bib Bop’ links.
You can download for free the ‘Take It Away’ single edit remaster (not on the discs) on Paul’s official site, you need to supply your email address and answer a maths question.

Aw man, you made me feel stupid now Of course, that makes total sense.
I already downloaded that track when it was first announced. I was under the impression the deluxe album did come with some DLC, though. I must be mistaken….

My issue with ‘Pipes Of Peace ‘ is that aside from two songs (the title track and ‘So Bad’) I loathe the entire album; not even the bonus disc can get me interested. One very much to wait until its reduced or found to buy second-hand*.
I get why Paul decided to release them together but if we get this yet there is no ‘Wild Life ‘, ‘Red Rose Speedway ‘, Back To The Egg ‘ etc i’ll be fuming for ever more.
*Actually i might just download those two tracks and forget about the rest.

I saw it yesterday. Nicely done, but not my cup of tea. I kind of liked the old one. It’s so cheesy, it’s just perfect. This new video looks cool now, but it’ll be just as outdated as the old one in a few years.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the Oct. 24 chart:
— Paul McCartney , Tug Of War and Pipes Of Peace — The Paul McCartney Archive Collection album reissue series continues to profit on the charts, as its latest rereleases — Tug Of War and Pipes Of Peace — return to the Billboard 200. The former, first issued in 1982 and McCartney’s last No. 1, returns to the Billboard 200 at No. 56 (8,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Oct. 8, according to Nielsen Music). Meanwhile, its follow-up set, 1983’s No. 15-peaking Pipes Of Peace , comes back at No. 70 (7,000 units).
Both albums feature singles that topped the Billboard Hot 100, and both are duets: Tug Of War ’s “Ebony And Ivory ” (with Stevie Wonder) and Pipes Of Peace ’s “Say Say Say” (with Michael Jackson) spent seven and six weeks at No. 1, respectively.
One of the bonus features on the Pipes Of Peace reissue is a new mix of “Say Say Say,” with previously unheard vocals from McCartney and Jackson, where they switch lead vocals on the track. The remix was serviced to radio on Oct. 2 and accompanied by a new video, directed by Ryan Heffington (who choreographed Sia’s “Chandelier” clip).
On the Catalog Albums chart, Tug Of War makes its first appearance on the list, bowing at No. 1 (8,000 sold). Pipes Of Peace also pops on the first time, at No. 2 with 7,000.
So far, nine McCartney and Wings albums have been reissued in the Archive Collection series, and all nine of them have reached the top 10 of the Catalog Albums chart. Three of them have hit No. 1: Tug Of War , Wings Over America (2013) and Ram (2012).
