There is a seek-a-word puzzle for Tug Of War on the download’s section of Paul’s website.

I didn’t know the story behind the song Wanderlust.
…the track actually originated from an event which took place on a boat in the Virgin Islands, where Wings were in the middle of recordings for London Town .
Paul explains: “We’d been on one of the boats, and the captain had smelt some pot, and you know, we thought, ‘Well, we’re in the middle of the ocean, and we’re not harming anyone’.
“But he [the captain] was very uptight about it, and he basically asked us to leave. ‘Wanderlust’ was the name of the boat. So my song is [sings], ‘Light out Wanderlust’ – you know, we don’t want to be here – ‘Captain says they’ll be a bust.’ It’s all about this captain and him getting uptight about smelling some pot somewhere.”

Tsk, tsk, bad Paulie. Keep it clean when you’re on someone else’s turf boat.

What’s That You’re Doing? also has great lead vocals by Paul and Stevie Wonder, someone should extract those and add them to a much better instrumental track as it would be well worth the effort.
Have you listened to the version on Twin Freaks @meanmistermustard ?

Yes and it sounds terrible; the backing and vocals sound like they were thrown together one drunken drug-fuelled night and then emailed into the disc compiler who thought nothing of it.

I forgot about Twin Freaks . I think I listened to it once or twice in highschool. All I really remember was the version of “Rinse The Raindrops” that was only like 3min, and the awful remix of “Live And Let Die ” with the first 4 words of the song mind numbingly repeated over and over for the the whole track.

Has to be one of the most annoying tracks ever that would tip you over into uncontrollable psycho-killer. A great form of torture as Paul never finishes that bloody line.

Sorry mmm but the instrumental for Whats That You’re Doing? is awesome. Stevie ripping that funk synth and what sounds like a talkbox. Great example of 80s funk style that is seeing a small revival on the live scene today.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been listening quite often to Paul McCartney ‘s solo/Wings albums : Tug Of War and Venus And Mars . For the first listens, I wasn’t too excited but in the end, I can’t stop listening to them !
And I had a good surprise in this album, it’s “The Pound is Sinking”, I feel like it’s not the most popular but I like it a lot. A funny thing, since I don’t necessarily understand the lyrics at first listen, I thought it was about a sinking boat only because of the word “sinking” that I knew.
