It took me awhile to like this one, but No Other Baby is brilliant! It is a perfect song to describe what I am sure he was feeling at the time since it was so close to Linda's death, and he sings it so well.

When Movie Magg played on my mp3 player this morning, for some reason I thought of Maggie May from the Let It Be album.

I prefer my music on 12 inch vinyl unless if it is a single or EP. All of these single collection box sets and things like this are just a waste of vinyl.
Except this isn’t a single collection box, it’s the actual 16 track album put onto 8 45’s.

‘Run Devil Run ‘ always sounded naff to me. ‘No Other Baby’ rightly being the track pulled from the album and turned into a single as there is very little else to get caught up in.
I wonder if ‘No Other Baby’ was more than a cover of an oldie and in some way Paul’s positioning on ‘Linda’s death and where that left him. The video is Paul on his own drifting at sea going thru a storm which passes yet at the end he is still drifting. The lyric self-explanatory. He was totally lost after Linda’s death.

Wow, this is special because of the rarity of Paul covering Chuck (not to mention one of my three or four absolute favorite Berry songs, and I love me a few dozen,; originally entitled “brown skinned handsome man,” covered most excellently by Buddy Holly who maybe taught the Beatles it first); and because it opens with what is almost surely TOTALLY a quote from “Cry For a Shadow”! That’s all I’ve heard of this really, gonna post the video now and watch it in full; and then probably start to play the full album tomorrow with Mombontee (inset) during regular card game
