Long Haired Lady is one of my all time favorite songs. It is like Happiness Ia A Warm Gun or Uncle Albert /Admiral Halsey in its unique A,B, and C sections. The Linda solo at the beginning I love, and the “who’s the lady?” section is one of my favorite pieces of music period.
I think the song is very good, just too long. Cut down the ending (which is something like 120 seconds) and it would be fantastic.

Oddly enough I really love ‘Love Is Strange’, ‘Wild Life ‘ and ‘Some People Never Know’ and most Paul fans would instantly scream that all three outstay their welcome by a good couple of minutes – ‘Bip Bop’ and ‘Dear Friend’ could do with a bit of time shedding however.
As said often enough I love ‘Wild Life ‘.

‘Some People Never Know’ is a perfect track in every respect, including length.

Same could be said about Wild Life . Nice song, but could be shortened!

listened to this album for the first time yesterday. and i think i listened to it 6 or 7 times last night. i love this album a lot. it’s exactly the kind of album i wanted to hear after listening to john’s plastic ono band (which i found a little too depressing at parts.) paul’s last album i listened to on repeat for about 12 hours straight before i gave it a rest and moved on to the next one ringo’s beacoups de blues, and i would be more than happy to do the same for this album. i like every song on this album.
3 my favourites are too many people, uncle albert/admiral halsey, and long haired lady.
———————————–
first, quick shorter reviews of the other songs:
legs, love the bluesy feel of it
ram on, love the softer, easy feeling of this (counting both halves as one) and then the end of the reprise is very dancey.
dear boy, the upbeat piano makes it feel like paul is really taunting linda’s ex-husband. but it’s hard for me to not dance a little
smile away, really groovy rocker this one.
Heart Of The Country , like a faster upbeat Mother Nature’s Son
monkberry moon delight, reminded me of my niece and nephew because like macca’s kids they also call milk “monk” (sometime’s they’ll call it “mo”) also, one of the songs that really got me dancing
Eat At Home , another groovy rocker
back seat of my car, starts off by sounding like it’s gonna be a sad song and then it ends up being a sweet romantic dancing song.
——————————————————
and then with the favourites, i’m gonna start with long haired lady; this song is fantastic. i love linda’s singing in it. i love how it goes from just the acoustic to the full band. it’s beautiful
uncle albert/admiral halsey; i am in love with this song. from what i’ve read, it was made of several unfinished song bits mccartney made, i’m guessing dating back to at least the revolver era going all the way up to Abbey Road . and it feels so positively peppery. this song makes me want to make a playlist of the post-breakup songs that sound like something off pepper or in some way is related to pepper, i know already that this song is going in there.
too many people; sad story incomming. i lost my best friend. my mom woke me up this morning and told me that my dog past away in the night. i don’t know why, but after she left i grabbed my phone, pulled up spotify, put my headphones on and left it on repeat for hours. i don’t know why, but it really helped me calm down. the lyrics don’t really connect to the situation, but that’s just what happened. all my frustration and pain, i sunk into listening this to song and it helped a lot.

all in all, i loved ram a lot. i kinda don’t want to stop listening to it. i’ll give it today, and then tomorrow i’m gonna move on to john’s imagine.

Are the Remastered CDs much better than the original CDs?Specifically RAM??
Well to answer my own question, I did a sound test between my original CD and the Remastered CD and could not hear any difference whatsoever. Tried it with 2 different types of headphones too.
But the extra CD is a nice companion to the Ram LP.
Tonight, I compare Band On The Run .
Needs more Cowbell!!!!

So I have the original CD, the ’93 CD, and the 2012 Archive. The ’93 CD is definitely clearer than the original, but the difference between the ’93 one and the 2012 one isn’t quite as big.

This is an amazing album. The production is an unbelievable mix of glossy session musician work combined with this home studio acoustic feel. A lot of that has to do with the nature and themes of Paul’s songwriting, but there is no question this is classy album and a landmark of Paul’s career.

The fact that music that was generally considered ‘mainstream’ 50 years ago would now be considered ‘indie’ is a pretty strong indication of how far popular music has fallen, IMO…

Really good video review@kelicopter. Agree with D_of_K, about mainstream music regarded as Indie today. The album was a huge commercial success, just as McCartney had been the year before; but a bit more put together, including a little input from George Martin.
The critical mauling Paul got, still on the receiving end of a lot of blame; especially following John’s Feb ’71 Rolling Stone interview, then Ram coming out same month as Let it Be Doc.
The reception from the other Beatles shouldn’t have been surprising given some of the album’s content.I’ve always wondered about John’s Syracuse Birthday Party where they’re all singing Uncle Albert /Admiral Halsey , I don’t think they are being kind, the US single had reached number 1, with the the B side being Too Many People .
Maybe he did like the A side a bit.
