If it is a joke, we’ll probably know in an hour. The previous announcements were all at 6 PM CEST, and it’s 5 PM now. Hey, it could be real, I’m just having a very hard time accepting it as such. There are, to me, at least, too many anomalies. If it is real, then I fear Paul has gone completely potty. But hey, that’s just my opinion
I’m in agreement with you. There is no rhyme or reason to it. It’s not like it’s 67 top hits!!!!!

Who wants to tweet Paul reminding him that he said in an interview with Q Magazine only a year ago that the lyrics of ‘Bip Bop‘ are “f*****g awful”?
I just scrolled/searched through 41 pages of interviews on the Q Magazine site (approximately ten interviews per page) for a McCartney interview and came up empty…

All this detailed discussion of how many songs, and which songs to include — why can’t the Paul Franchise just put out a compendium of all of his songs (= each and every last damned bloody song he ever recorded)? Call it:
All Paul.
or:
P(all) McCartney.
(Paul’s People: email me (I have no People myself…) for particulars on where to send the check…)

I still have cassettes and two tape players. The only formats I don’t have are 78 rpm vinyl, 8-track and reel to reel.I take that back, I have one 78 that was released recently but I can’t play it.
I might still have one 8-track in a box somewhere but no player…worst format ever.
In my mind I still have a fin du siècle Victrola gramophone on which scratchy renditions of Caruso’s tenor arias warble (accompanied by Fritz Kreisler on violin and Madame du Gast on piano), as I ponder the garden outside my window, smoking a cigar and sipping absinthe, while my fox terrier barks into the horn…

“Hope of Deliverance” is seriously under-rated – apparently by its author too.
I think anyone whose been in deep trouble can relate to this song.

I was just listening to that song Monday morning and had a very similar thought…what darkness surrounds our BB forum members?

I’ve seen the first two, they’re great fun. I liked the ‘Dance Tonight’ one best, he was so funny and relaxed in that one.

I don’t tend to think of Paul as someone with a tan. When and where would that picture have been taken?

It was taken in Scotland. I’d guess early 70’s. It would be easier to guess if we could see more of his beard.

My ‘Pure McCartney’ which no doubt will have everyone scratching their heads wondering why one song is excluded when another is included. Some I wouldn’t have included if this was all my favourites but as a career retrospective I felt they had to be (so for instance ‘Jet ‘ ‘Ebony And Ivory ‘ and ‘Say Say Say’ are here despite me not liking them), even so its not a matter of collecting every a-side Paul’s released.
- Written by and featuring Paul on at least co-vocals (so no ‘Medicine Jar’ for example).
- Studio recordings (so no live ‘Coming Up ‘ despite it reaching #1 in the US, no ‘Soilly’ from ‘Wings Over America ‘).
- Where possible every commercial album is represented by at least one track (‘Choba B CCCP ‘ was all covers sadly).
- No classical or highly experimental (‘Standing Stone ‘ ‘Rushes’, ‘Liverpool Sound Collage ‘) tho ‘Electrical Arguements’ appears.
- No material that was originally from the Beatle era (one major flaw on the George compilation album ‘Let It Roll’ is the inclusion of ‘Something ‘ etc when there was ample strong material available from the solo years).
- No edits.
- Each album has to fit on a CD (the Beatles ‘1’ was 79:08).
Additionally I’ve tried to limit the number of tracks that already appeared on ‘Wingspan’ as there is no point on duplicating almost all of that again so some numbers that probably should be here are gone (‘Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five’, ‘Daytime Nighttime Sufferer’). Plus I’ve tried to give Paul his balls back as they appear to have been removed on the forthcoming official box set (‘Bip Bop’, ‘Junk’ ‘Girlfriend’ again ). It’s [hopefully chronological] and I am open to suggestions for replacements and/or additions, especially For the ‘Memory Almost Full ‘ and ‘Driving Rain ‘ albums which I dont like and rarely listen to so find hard to figure out which are the better, more important tracks. Ideally after this there would be a box set of live tracks, demo’s, outtakes, rarities hot on its heels.

Notes
CD 1
‘The Lovely Linda ‘ – its the first song Paul put down for his post-Beatles career plus Linda overshadowed everything Paul did until her death in 1997. He wasn’t ashamed then and he shouldnt be ashamed now despite it not being anywhere near the strongest track.
‘Too Many People ‘ and ‘Dear Friend’ pretty much open and close the Paul v John feud on Paul’s side of recorded music here both appearing.
‘Dear Boy ‘ was Paul’s to Linda’s ex.
‘Monkberry Moon Delight ‘ was a track John liked and the vocals are incredible.
‘I am Your Singer’ is one of the very few Paul and Linda duets.
‘Little Lamb Butterfly’ is pure Wings with the harmonies and its a highlight of ‘Red Rose Speedway ‘.
Omitted due to time reasons and/or on ‘Wingspan’: ‘Every Night ‘, ,Tomorrow’, ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’, ‘Nineteen Hundred And Eight-Five’, ‘Big Barn Bed’.
CD2
Omitted due to time reasons and/or on ‘Wingspan’: ‘Venus And Mars ‘, ‘Rock Show’, ‘Sally G’, ‘Cafe On The Left Bank’.
CD3
‘Temporary Secretary ‘ Paul is now doing live so must have some fondness for it. ‘Waterfalls’ is the obvious choice but it’s on ‘Wingspan’.
time reasons and/or on ‘Wingspan’: ‘Waterfalls’, ‘Press’, ‘Talk More Talk’, ‘Stranglehold’, ‘Spies Like Us’, ‘Figure of Eight’.
CD 4
Omitted due to not being on lead vocals: ‘FourFiveSeconds’. Would have been nice as it brings Paul’s collaborations with modern artists up to date.
It somehow comes to a nice 80 tracks and over 5 hours. Says so much that a lot more could be included.

That’s a good compilation, has all my favourites that aren’t duplicated on Wingspan but still Paul. Sometimes I wonder in a few centuries will they number his works with classical designations just to manage the sheer size of his oevre.
