I know, I was just jokingHow would you rank it among all of his albums, or at least the ones he’s released since Flaming Pie (including FP)?
Hmmm… it’s almost hard to say because the style is so different. But better than Memory Almost Full , maybe as good or almost as good as Chaos and Creation. And those are the two I love more than the rest of the post Flowers In The Dirt albums. I have a feeling – just on a personal level – I might end up listening to this one more.

That’s great to hear, because I love Flaming Pie , Chaos and Creation, and Memory Almost Full , so if it’s as good or better than those…

Reading about your experience has made me even MORE excited to finally hear this album next week, which I didn’t think possible! Thanks for sharing.
How well do we all think the album will do on the charts?
One of my other favourite artists is Neil Young (who is only a couple of years younger than Paul) and I was very excited when he hit high up on the charts with 2 new albums last year.
So, my prediction, top 20 – and top 10 if reviews are good and it gets decent publicity.

Top 5, easy. This album’s gotten more press than any of his recent albums. Call it #4.

Full ep from Jimmy Fallon isn’t up yet, but a few clips are. And I know that site’s restricted in some countries, so hopefully people can view these YT clips:
Worst accent ever from Paul, lol.

I got mad when NBC cut off Lady Madonna at the beginning. At least they played the new songs without interruption.
Jimmy Fallon’s twitter said it will upload the videos from tonight first thing tomorrow morning, which technically its morning now 12:57 AM where I am, but I guess later in the morning.

You can hear Paul’s new single “Queenie Eye ” here at Direct Music. More on the song at The Examiner.
Two versions of the song, an album edit (3:48), and a slightly shorter radio edit (3:28), and two short clips of spoken dialogue by McCartney were released. The first clip was a brief introduction by Paul to the song for use on radio. “Hello there, this is Paul McCartney on your local radio station loving being here. I’m introducing my new song ‘Queenie Eye .'”
The second dialogue clip was a longer introduction with McCartney explaining all about the song to radio listeners.
“Now this song, ‘Queenie Eye ,’ is based on a game we used to play when I was kids. You got to remember that’s a long time ago and basically in kind of a poor area I was from. What you did you entertain yourself was go out in the street and play street games. There wasn’t that much traffic, so you were pretty safe. And one of the games was called ‘Queenie Eye .’

I canceled my Amazon order in favor of the Best Buy version and I hope they either let me pick it up or deliver it on time.

If anyone sees a track-by-track feature in which McCartney (or someone in his press team) details what each song on New is about, could they please flag it here? I’ve got articles on the songs but I’ll need to bulk them up when more info emerges.

Paul did a surprise show for some students in Queens today. Funny thing, a coworker mentioned this to me this morning, and I thought, “Wahhh?” From USA Today:
So your partner might get you flowers to mark your wedding date.
Being married to Paul McCartney ups the ante just a little.
“Happy anniversary, baby!” he said to his third wife, Nancy Shevell, as he performed Wednesday afternoon for a small crowd of mostly students at an album release party in Queens sponsored by iHeartRadio. The kids had been dispatched to an assembly without being told who their special guest would be. Color them surprised.
McCartney’s latest album, New, is out Oct. 15. The event, which was not publicized ahead of time, took place at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. There, McCartney held what was billed as a “master class,” followed by a Q&A with the high school students and a performance. Those unable to attend (which includes most of us) can listen in when the show airs across Clear Channel Media and streams on Yahoo! (Monday, 9 p.m. ET/6 PT).
He opened the show with The Beatles’ classic Eight Days A Week , written by John Lennon and McCartney. The rollicking single New was a tribute to Shevell, his wife of two years. “My wife is in the audience,” he said. “This is for you.”

Lucky kids! If you were already a Beatles fan, what a way to commemorate John’s birthday. Definitely not a day to be out sick.

* Samples of the 12 tracks from “New” are up at All Music.
* More on Paul’s secret show at the Meet the Beatles for Real blog.
Paul made an unannounced appearance today at a Fine Arts High School in New York. Everyone is making it sound that the student’s were called into an assembly and then surprise….Paul McCartney concert. But the tip I heard was that there were rumors going around the school yesterday that Paul was going to be at the school today. So while the students were surprised (who wouldn’t be surprised if Paul McCartney showed up at your High School?), it wasn’t a total and complete shock.
More at the link.
* Interview with Paul for ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau posted at The Macca Report. Looks like it was part of a recent press junket.

From Paul’s twitter page: He’ll be playing a show in Times Square in NY at 1pm – I think in less than an hour EST? No other details yet.
