Examiner preview of the three-disc collectors edition of ‘New’ scheduled for release at the end of October, details of which were posted up thread. SoI wonder what the next edition of ‘New’ will be. So far we’ve had the regular, deluxe and exclusive editions and now we have the collectors so i’m going for Platinum; 3 cd + dvd + book + stickers + bookmark + facsimile of the original paperwork Paul signed after the album was competed to sanction its release. Maybe if they spent less time faffing about with these endless packages we might get the Archive releases quicker.
Well – there will be the Japanese version of this with yet another exclusive track or three
Coincidentally, and not knowing about this release, I listened to New again the other night and REALLY enjoyed it. I’m up for this edition if I can get it locally at a decent price.

We willed the thrill to never stop.
*sigh* I wish that will would have lasted longer. Oh, well, it was magic while it lasted. Love you, Beatles.
And…
Thank you to the person who gave me the new New. I appreciate it.

I’m really sorry! I was surprised that we had such a long thread for this album.

cbatcu Suggested I X-post my analysis of Paul’s screams on this album, so here we go:
Alright, I’ve finished my analysis of NEW. There’s a lot going on on that one! I only listed what stood out; there are a few minor ones I didn’t include in this list.
NEW 2013
Save Us – Two distinct screams – a low-register one before the final chorus, and a higher one at the end of the song.
Alligator – No screaming, but a few sustained 5th octave notes
Queenie Eye – Very high, sustained scream/squeal (F#5 or A5), held for about 5 seconds.
Early Days – No screams, but a few sustained 5th octave notes
New – Again, no screams, but the top note in the chorus is quite high. The same applies to Appreciate.
Everybody Out There – Some good, powerful roars in the last part of the song.
Road – Some powerful vocals, bordering on screaming, but not quite getting to that point, IMO
Turned Out – A good roar near the end, and a signature Macca ‘woooooo’ at the end
Struggle – The spoken bit borders on screaming at some points, though I’m not sure they count as screams. The ‘everybody PRAAAAYYYY’ bit definitely counts as one, though.
Hell To Pay – Very powerful vocals, and some impressive roars (There will be HELL to PAAAAYYYYYYY)
Demon’s Dance – A sustained, high-pitched (upper 5th octave) howl in the second half of the song, and a funny yelp near the end, also 5th octave.

I finally got round to listening to this album (after three years of its existence, and I’ve known of it for at least a year), and I likes it vewy much, yes I does
It’s got a lot of strong tracks, and while Paul’s voice is rather shot it doesn’t detract from the music in any way. The production will sound dated in fifty years, but what doesn’t? Underneath all the 21st-century electronic sounds are a set of very fine classic McCartney pop/rock songs that would stand in any era, because Sir Paul Freaking McCartney
So far I like ‘Save Us’, ‘Queenie Eye ‘, ‘New’, and ‘Hosanna’ the best.

Yes, that literally had me in tears– no mean feat. I’m okay now… I’m okay, I swear…
The two main lads even looked a bit like John and Paul, or was it just me? Their guitars were replicas, for sure.

Well, if that kid was really using Paul’s guitar, then he’s the luckiest kid alive! I didn’t see the resemblance to J&P, though. But a great video, nonetheless.

Okay, it may have been wishful thinking, but they were clearly at least representative of the lads.

True. And the white boy could be George, I guess? I think it’s quite obviously inspired by the Beatles’ story, yet there’s room for interpretation, I think.

I got New the day it came out, but a month went by and I never really got around to listening to it because I wasn’t that excited about it. I had already listened to New (the song) and I liked it a lot, but in a fifteen minute car ride the day I got it I listened to a bit of each song and just wasn’t that impressed.
Then one of my teachers asked me if I had heard it yet and I said no, and he said that he listened to it a couple times and that it was pretty good. This teacher absolutely hated Wings, and Paul was his third favorite Beatle, so I thought the album had to be pretty good if he liked it despite not really being a fan of Paul. I went home that day and listened to it on repeat until I fell asleep, and that’s how I fell in love with New.
It’s my favorite Paul McCartney album, and when I’m listening to music on shuffle and one of the songs from New come on I can’t help but go to the album and start from the top. My favorite song is probably Save us or O (I don’t know if that’s the real name of the song, but that’s what it downloaded as onto my computer). I also really like Hell To Pay and I don’t know why it didn’t make it onto the album.

No I think it might be called Scared. It’s the last song on the album.

It is Scared, though. I just listened to it again to make sure and that’s definitely the song. It downloaded onto my computer as its own song, so it really wasn’t that hidden, though it did have a pretty ambiguous title “O”.

Yes, Scared is a hidden track. The version of the album dictates which song it’s attached to, though. I’ve got it after ‘Get Me Out Of Here’.
Scared
I’m scared to say I love you
Afraid to let you know
That the simplest of words won’t come out of my mouth
Though I’m dying to set them go
Trying to let you know.
I have to say I’m sorry
Don’t feel sad for me.
But the beautiful birds won’t fly out of their cage
Though I’m trying to set them free
Dying to let you see
How much you mean to me.
I remember the first time we met
Tears in our eyes, reflecting
Something connecting from so long ago
It might have been told in the stars
Maybe that’s what it was
It doesn’t matter because
I’m still too scared to tell you
Afraid to let you see
That the simplest of words won’t come out of my mouth
Though I’m dying to set them free
Trying to let you see
How much it means to me
How much you mean to me
How much you mean to me now.
