I’ve finally got around to ordering New and am almost feverish with excitement. It should be delivered tomorrow so am looking forward to getting home from a tiring day at work, plugging in the headphones and being in a state of total bliss! The reviews have been amazing, it’s so great to have all this positive Paul attention in the media for once.

You will enjoy it. No doubt in my mind. I’m not quite sure how many times I had to listen to it before I calmed down enough to really listen to it. I got so over excited.

Thanks! Did it live up to your expectations? Does it rank alongside your favourite Paul albums or is it too early to say? I’m on such a Paul kick at the moment, I’m buying 2 Beatles solo albums a month and am getting quite a nice little collection. I won’t stop until I have them all though, good and bad!

Yes, it did, Hanna. I enjoy it tremendously. It is high on the list. I’m glad he’s still got it. He’s sticking it to those youngns in the industry. He takes what they do and does it much better. What an active, genius brain he has.

I’ve been freelancing on a job that has me running errands around the city, so I’ve had the album on constant loop. I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m falling more in love with the album the more I listen, and finding something new to appreciate (no pun intended) every time.

Can’t wait even more now as I know you have excellent taste! Will be back tomorrow with my thoughts on it.
On song 9 “Hosanna” starting at 1:10 and ending at 1:14, I love the way Paul’s voice goes a little astray. It makes imagine the scene (well, the way I imagine it) when Paul first asked Nancy to spend the night with him. He goes up to her all suave and debonaire to ask her. Then he loses his cool and the words come out a bit “OMG I can’t believe I’m really asking her” squeaky. She calls him babycake. She has him right in the palm of her hand. She’s my hero.

It didn’t arrive, I’m fuming!
Nooooooooooooooooooooo.
Well, if we can turn it into a positive in any shape, form, or fashion, perhaps you can at least think about it as building more anticipation.

I will try to see it that way! As long as it comes before the weekend it won’t be too bad

Can I just say that I’ve been staring at this thread title for a month and only just discovered yesterday that “New” is the actual name of the album?
I feel pretty silly about that! (Haven’t seen the record in my local store at all. )
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

So you haven’t heard it yet either Von? I’m not the only Paul McCartney fan on the planet who hasn’t? I missed his performance at Convent Garden in London a few weeks back even though I was only about 15 minutes walk away at the time. Still haven’t gotten over it, feel like the silliest fool on the planet!

Honestly, I haven’t got a great deal of interest in hearing it, sorry. I haven’t cared too much for Paul’s last several albums, what I’ve heard of them. They’re…pleasant, but they don’t thrill me.

There are plenty of tracks on YouTube so you can take a look-see-listen.

Also, wetsroosa is playing the entire album on his “Fab Files” show this Saturday at 2pm CST/3pm EST. There is a repeat at midnight EST on Sunday.
The 999th picture of someone with Paul’s NEW album has been posted on Instagram.
They are looking for a special #1000. It’s pretty cool that our own Joe got #500.

[snip]On another subject, does anyone think it’s funny that in the deluxe liner notes (don’t know about the standard edition) Paul speaks at length about each of the producers, but doesn’t seem to even acknowledge his fellow musicians?
The standard version has the same information on the two inside covers as the deluxe (without that 3rd panel on the inside like the deluxe). However, the standard version comes with a little booklet that has all the lyrics for the 12 songs on it, pictures from the recording sessions, and information about who played and sang and produced what and where. For “Alligator” it has Play-Me-A-Song book listed as an instrument. What the heck is that all about?

Okay, then. Very interesting. Has anyone figured out where it plays in “Alligator”?
