I must have gotten mixed up before because I’m not a huge fan of “Appreciate”…  but “I Can Bet” really grew on me!

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been..  I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene..  Banjos!  Banjos!  All the time, I can't forget that tune..  and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

^^that’s one of my faves, too (I Can Bet). Very mid-70s Wings feel and sound to it, and Paul is a bit cocky and strutting in it (lyrically) but not age inappropriate (if you know what I mean  )

I’ve been too scared to listen to “Scared” because I thought I would be consumed by the green-eyed monster of jealousy. I just listened to it now. I am crying out of sheer happiness and overwhelming joy that Nancy said “Yes” to him. His emotions and voice are so strong on that song.

If she had turned him down, and I found out about it…I can’t put on here the %&*# I would have given her.

I’m a sucker. I got two versions. Oh well, the hubby can keep one in his truck to listen to.

My local record shop contacted me on twitter and told me to call later today to have them set another one aside. So nice of them!

Did you get your cube, DrBeatle? I sure hope so.

A BBC video reporting on Paul’s performance at Covent Garden as well as a news report, where, if you scroll down to near the bottom, there is an interview with Paul where he talks about how the Covent Garden gig was Stella’s idea, the enduring support he receives from fans as well as a few other questions.

The cube looks interesting. Can anybody tell me where I could purchase one?

And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

They were promo item given to select record shops to give out to the first few people who bought the record. It’s a roundabout story of how I got mine. Unfortunately, many of them fell into the wrong hands (in opinion) because they are selling them on ebay for a pretty penny.

Yeah. As of a couple of days ago, they were going for $50-60. I still can’t believe someone bought that lot of 9 cubes for over a $1000. As someone mentioned on maccaboard, though, they may have hit the bubble, as there are so many being offered on ebay right now.

But who knows, there may still be a feral cube out there for the taking. If you’re in the US, check with your local FYE and indie record stores.

KCSN in LA is doing a fund-drive and on “Saturday Morning with the Beatles,” a woman from Concord Music Group donated 10 swag bags with things like the lighted cube, the limited edition 7″ for “Another Day ” from Record Store Day, the Live Kisses 7″ promo and the Wings Over America 2 CD/1DVD set for a donation of $120 if you call in at 1-800-795-5276. Edit: The first 10 sold out and they just added 10 more bags.

I see also that Ringo donated an autographed drum head – that’s for a donation of $600. Edit: Sold out.

I know! I’m so tempted now that they added 10 more bags!

LOL, I called to request “Appreciate,” and Les, the host, told the Concord Music Group woman that he appreciated her for donating more bags and he played the song in her and my honor. ;-D

Looks like Paul is not quite as popular down here as in the USA / UK – he debuted on the album chart here at #22, looks like top 10 at least in the USA, and a good shot at top 5 in both the UK and the USA.  It’s doing really well, great to see!

I like the flower in the wine glass on the piano. :-D

Turns out it was the McCartney Rose:

The selection of ‘The McCartney Rose’ was made in honor of Paul McCartney ‘s 50th birthday. The award-winning hybrid tea offers large, deep pink flowers, good disease resistance and an outstanding fragrance that can be detected several yards away. “Its vibrant pink color, wonderful fragrance and perfect form for a hybrid tea goes well with Paul being a perfectionist in everything he does,” says Jason Brown, new plants coordinator at the Conard-Pyle Company.

Perhaps this belongs in the obscure trivia thread…
