So the 20 wristband winners for Paul’s HMV signing have been announced on Paul’s Twitter page, leaving 40 more supposedly to give away. Meanwhile, at least 30 people are in line with 24 hours to go.parlance
I took the bold move to go against one of my personal wishes (to avoid fb/twitter) in order to, hopefully, get another one granted (see Paul). I’ve been unlucky, though.
30 people in line already? Wow. Obviously they’re keen to get in

^^ Haha yeah…
The thing is I wouldn’t mind paying to see him. I wouldn’t mind paying a lot to see him. He’s not giving me (and plenty others) the chance to, though!

I want to see him too. If I had been a fan earlier in life, I would have had plenty of opportunities.

My copy’s arrived. Just sent this to Paul’s Twitter account:Do you have Instagram? You should post this there too. Weren’t they still looking for their 500th regram? If that’s not a winner, I don’t know what is.
And it was! I got the 500th. No prize involved as far as I can tell, just the glory of it all. Thanks for suggesting I do it.
Off topic: I think I might use my Instagram account to keep track of all my Beatles purchases, a visual record. I took delivery this morning of Anthology 1 , 2 and 3 on vinyl and they look amazing laid out together.
Emily and other UK people – if you missed out on tickets for the Oxford Street signing, there’s a competition on Amazon.co.uk to win a pair of tickets to see Paul in Tokyo.

Interesting mix of opinions – looks like I am one of the few who has “Appreciate” at the bottom of my list (okay, maybe tied with “Hosanna”) – though I am still enjoying the album immensely. I really like the two bonus tracks, the hidden one not so much.

Paul’s going to do another pop-up concert in about 20 minutes at Covent Garden in London.
I'm getting ready to pop up in Covent Garden at 1pm today. Oh baby!

The BBC are naming the Apple Rooftop concert as the originator of these appearances but there are is also the University Tours of 1972 where Paul and Wings in their earliest form would drive up to a University and play with next to none promotion except an announcement that there would be a concert at such a time with a small entrance fee. It is a great way of getting promotion for an album as well as a fabulous way for people to enjoy their lunchtime.
Good on you Paul.
Also is anyone’s video failing to load at the Huffindton Post link as posted by Parlance above

Yeah its started working about 3 seconds after i posted. Thanks for the heads up Parlance. Listening to Paul who sounds good. Not yet owning the album (i’ll pick it up either today or tomorrow) this is my first hearing of nearly all of tracks. Not a big fan of these concert songs written for reaction and to get everyone involved.
Shame he can only do 15, 20 minutes, stupid laws. Its Paul friggin’ McCartney.

You’re welcome. I woke up earlier than usual and something told me to check his FB.
In a rare, impressive show of organization, according to someone on Maccaboard, they gave wristbands to everyone in line for the HMV signing so they could come and go and they didn’t have to miss the concert.
He did Everybody Out There, then Queenie Eye , and since he had some more time, he did New again. Kinda odd.
I like the flower in the wine glass on the piano.

It was a fun concert and i get the feeling Paul would have happily played on if given the opportunity.
I haven’t been keeping up to speed with Paul’s live songs from the album so has he done any others from it or was it down to not yet having them ready that he done New again (so not New)?
And once again after hearing New (that performance has tripled the amount of times i’ve heard it) i go away singing Daytime Nighttime Suffering.

Definitely. As you said, he was in great voice.

Yeah, those are the ones he did at Times Square. “Queenie Eye ” is the only one he added after Kimmel. He said the band have been practicing the whole album all the way through, and it’s too bad another wasn’t ready in time (*cough*Appreciate*cough*).
Edit: If you missed the concert, you can replay it at the HuffPost link.

meanmistermustard was thinking of “Daytime Nighttime Suffering” when listening to “New”. Meanwhile, in humming “Save Us” I also found myself singing Journey’s “Separate Ways (Love Will Find You)”
And indeed, when McCartney sings “saaaaaave us” it could segue right into “love will find you”

As long as we’re talking mashups, I’ll go ahead and admit that “Queenie Eye ” has started reminding me of Chumbawumba’s “Tubthumping.”

On first listen of NEW, I heard it with critical ears, and was somewhat underwhelmed, although admittedly there were a few standout tracks. Now that I’m on my third or fourth listen and just taking it all in, I’m really enjoying all of it. I like it quite a bit. I think it might be one of my McCartney favorites.

I’ve listened to NEW twice, and it’s a great album. Other album had a bit to many songs that their title was only one word, and a few of them are alright. The first half of the album is without a doubt the better side. The songs that were reminiscing of Paul’s times in the 1960’s clearly highlighted the side and the album.
Save Us was a great start to the album, Alligator is a great follow up, though the title of the song was odd. On My Way To Work is probably my favorite track on the album because of the early 60’s feel of how life was. Queenie Eye was alright. Early Days ‘ guitar picking highlighted the track, and the song is my second favorite on the album. New was probably a standout track from the rest of the side, I feel like it stands out from all the others because of its sound.
The second side was okay. I wasn’t really fond of Appreciate, or Hosanna. Everybody Out There was okay, and so was I Can Bet. Looking At Her was my favorite song from the second side. Road probably is my least favorite song on the album. I really don’t like it.
The deluxe edition tracks were good. I liked Turned Out, but I disliked Get Me Out of Here. Throwaway song IMO. Scared was awesome. It basically describes what many guys go through.
New is like an 8/10 Strong first side, an okay second, and great bonus tracks.
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.
