I can not believe how much this album rocks! To me there is not a bum in the lot. My favorites so far are ‘Alligator’, ‘On My Way To Work’ and ‘Appreciate’.
Being a Beatles purist, I was delighted to see 14 tracks. I actually split each set of seven songs into Side 1 and Side 2 as if I purchased it on vinyl.
After the 14th track finished, while wallowing in the afterglow for what seemed like a few moments, a wondrous thing happened. The 15th track started playing!!! Not wanting to hear/read any of the early talk about the album, I had been avoiding all reviews and links to the tracks (except for the title track). I wanted to be able to listen to it without anyone else’s bias rattling around in my brain. So I had no idea there was a hidden track. There was no mention of it anywhere in the liner notes. I kept waiting for an abrupt ‘Her Majesty ‘ type of ending, but it kept playing.
Happy, happy, joy, joy.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I’m on my second listen through. Standout favorite as of now: “Early Days .” I was nervous to hear it was a naked vocal, as I am one of those who has certain issues with Paul’s aging voice. But this is perfect; this is the perfect treatment of his voice, flaws and all. Just perfect. I love every little rasp and wobble. I would listen to a whole album of him singing like this. Gorgeous acoustic sound, too. And it’s just a great song; it makes a nice warm weepy knot in my chest.
I could also listen for hours if he did one of those small, intimate, solo-only concerts some of us have been dreaming about.

That’s probably the only thing I can do, since you can’t open the thing to tinker with it. It’s not a big deal either way, at least I’ve got it. 8)

Isn’t it just fantastic? I had to listen to the whole thing AGAIN this morning, and I’m sure I will later today. What a legend. 8)

Those are among my favorites too (my favorite track being Appreciate). I also love Road, the hidden track and that Japanese track. It’s a great album, I’m very happy!

When I put down my deposit on Monday, I noticed the store’s cube sitting on the counter, no longer “on,” so I picked it up and noticed the tiny little screw on the bottom. It looks like you could open it with an eyeglass screwdriver.

Trust me, I opened it, fidgeted with the battery contacts, everything…it’s busted
My local record shop contacted me on twitter and told me to call later today to have them set another one aside. So nice of them!

Did anyone catch the BBC6 performance? How was it? Edit: Oh, nevermind, we can hear it. I thought maybe it’d be blocked here.

They also filmed it (though the clips might not be available in all countries).
On another subject, does anyone think it’s funny that in the deluxe liner notes (don’t know about the standard edition) Paul speaks at length about each of the producers, but doesn’t seem to even acknowledge his fellow musicians?
Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon

Oh, thanks, Joe! I can see it in the US.

I noticed that too. I keep reading that’s an issue with Paul, but it’s a tricky subject I think I’ll avoid.

I’ll have to read the notes again, but at first read, I thought he was talking more about the creative process itself versus the actual recording process. I did not take it as homage to the producers per se, but rather how each contributed to the birth of the songs.
Does that make sense (Just asking because I am not in the biz)?
