In a Xmas and New Year special of his website Q&A, You Gave Me the Answer, when asked about what he hope to achieve in 2018, Paul replies:
I’ll probably be putting out a new album. So, I’d like that to be something I really love and then hopefully the fans will love it too! We’re putting the finishing touches to it now and at the beginning of next year. So, I would like to achieve making that a really great album. Fingers crossed! That’s not what it’s called, but fingers crossed! [Pauses] It could be… it COULD be the new album title!

Somebody update either a mod or myself if Paul reveals the title of the album so we can change the title of this thread.

Okay, seems people have been speculating about Paul changing his FB over the weekend, first changing the avatar to white, and then to a sketch:
On Monday he followed the avatar change with this picture:
On Tuesday…
And yesterday…
All this would clearly indicate to me that the new album is about to unveiled (there are some reports it may be released as early as tomorrow – 15 June – though I doubt those).
There is also the episode of Carpool Karaoke that was filmed in Liverpool last weekend with James Corden to be broadcast as part of The Late Late Show‘s week in London next week to be taken into account.
It seems to have them travelling around various Beatles sites in Liverpool, including Paul visiting Forthlin Road for the first time since 1964 and the barber in Penny Lane …
Corden, announcing the McCartney segment would be part of the London shows, said yesterday:
The Beatles’ and Wings’ Paul McCartney is joining James Corden for the most-historic “Carpool Karaoke” yet. We get to see the legendary musician’s hometown of Liverpool through his eyes. Plus, James and Paul will sing his hits, have an exclusive sing-along to brand new material, and surprise unsuspecting locals.
He also did a twelve song performance at the Philharmonic Pub for an audience of fifty. Mainly Beatles material, he unveiled his first new song (if one excludes collaborations) since New, being called When We Come Home at the moment, since he didn’t say what it was called, just that it was its first public performance:
When they used to get asked the question about what they missed as a result of fame, one of John’s answers used to be a pint in the Philly. Me and AG had a pint or two there during our whole day traipsing around Beatles sites on foot (nearly killed me, she did!). Every watering hole we reached I insisted on a drink. Me alcohol, her not.
Anyway, Paul isn’t an artist who throws new songs into his set just to try them out, so I have no doubt that this album is about to be announced.

That second clip – “Macca the Gangsta”
The new song sounds great! Can’t wait for this and the rest of the album to be released on Spotify.

I was listening to the new song and was like “wow that’s a really bangin’, fast tune”, then realised I had my speed set at 2x .
Anyhoo, I’m always excited for new Macca, should be good.

Here’s yesterday’s FB trail…
And today we have what I’d be surprised if it’s not the album cover…
I think we can now change the thread title to “Paul McCartney ” or, if it needs more clarification, “Paul McCartney (2018 album)”.
These images have been being posted at around 5pm BST, while the latest (album cover) was posted at 9am BST. That could indicate more detailed information may appear on his social media later in the day.
There’s been an upgrade of the second video I posted, including the song which now looks and sounds much better…

Surely Macca isn’t seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
On a happier note, he was seen riding a train not to long ago.

Kinda spooky that the painting’s been bumped elsewhere in the last couple of days.
If the FB posting follows yesterday, there should be another post at 5. Going from one post a day to two must mean we’re getting close to the denouement.
What do people think is the opening of the new song? I’ve seen it transcribed — and already covered! — as “I saw your fragile smile” but I’m hearing “I saw you flash a smile”.

Can’t all this drip-feeding stop, any new announcement is made and then anyone who wants the album can go and buy/pre-order it? All this 67 clues with 74% of the information needed but 59% can be unscrambled in advance if you hold your left ear to the righthand side of the keyboard if it is facing south in a westerly breeze on a hazy day in June is a nonsense.
I’m not 8, and it’s a new album not the unveiling of the answers to the mysteries of the Universe.
