it’s definitely agedI saw him live a couple years ago, and his voice was like that, so I guess I knew what to expect
It’s funny, I’ve been noticing that Paul’s voice has sounded older for quite a few years now, even going back to things like Flaming Pie . Now I listen to When Winter Comes, which was apparently recorded around that time, and his voice sounds pretty young to me. Your expectations have a lot to do with it IMO. With these new tracks, sometimes I think he sounds quite old, and other times I think he sounds fine. Either way, I’ll take it, he’s an artist showcasing his songs, and I’m glad to listen.

Paul got his UK #1 album.
‘Flowers In The Dirt ’ was his last #1 in the UK solo-wise in 1989 but he was #1 in the album charts with The Beatles ‘1’ in 2000/2001.

For the Americans, apparently there are 10 signed copies of this album in different record stores across the States. The odds of you finding one are practically null but you might as well try!
I would suggest keep buying them until you find one. The marketing on this album is a hoot. Poor Paul, I’m sure he needs the money.

Am I the only Macca fan who can’t get into this album???
Listened a few times, and just cant get past his voice
I noticed his voice starting to go on “Memory Almost Full “. His last few releases his voice has not been great and he has really lost his sense of melody and speaks most of the lyrics. His backing tracks on the other hand have been top-notch. IMO, on III he does have moments of melody along with strong vocals but they are few. Not a bad album though, but it’s the music saves it for me. The first track could have been a couple minutes shorter, a bit self indulgent.

That happened to me with Egypt Station and also with this new album. Plus, i find his music terribly boring.

Most of the tracks could easily be cut to 1 minute long and we wouldn’t have missed anything. I only liked “Pretty boys” which, i don’t know why, reminded me a bit of Guided by Voices (Pollard’s voice and singing style always sounded to me a bit similar to Paul’s , anyway).
Anyway i think Paul’s been walking down the same paths for years and seems confortable making it so good for him.

My first listen to III was at work and I found that I was enjoying it…then I realized that I could really only hear the music and not the lyrics or vocals. A subsequent listen in a quieter environment was not as enjoyable. I feel the same way about Egypt Station. Saying that I’ve listened to that one a half-dozen times would be quite an overstatement.

My first thought about this album is it sounds like the other 2 McCartney albums. It’s not a big spectacle, but rather low key, like Paul was playing for you in his home. Chaos And Creation In The Backyard was made with Paul playing all the instruments, but I don’t think it could be considered the same as the other McCartney albums as it doesn’t have that same homely feel. It’s more of a spectacle.

really?
I hear a liiiittle bit of the first and none of the second
I feel like I hear the second on Deep Deep Felling, Slidin, and Deep Down.

Hi people!!, I really enjoyed this album, reminds us that Paul is now and old man and that doesn’t stop him from doing music. Though Paul’s old voice is so evident on some songs, IMO that’s the thing that gives a different aura to McCartney III

New and Egypt Station are two of my favorite Paul McCartney albums so I was really looking forward to this one. It’s okay but I won’t be listening to it every day for a year like I did with his last two albums. I listened to it again yesterday and it’s a bit underwhelming.

The Paul is Dead people will have a field day with the lyrics of “Slidin”…
Also the three dots on the cover = the 3 true Beatles, with McCartney over and above and apart from them.
Three dots on the side of a “die” — singular form of “dice” — get it? “die”. . .
Three dots also an ellipsis, which can mean “a series of marks to indicate an omission” (the omission being Paul).
