Paul McCartney seems to be teasing an upcoming project involving Queens of the Stone Age‘s Josh Homme, Beck and St. Vincent.

On his Twitter, the Beatles legend shared a five-second video of a collection of dice rolling around. If you pause the dice at the right moment, you can see different names etched into them, including Homme, Beck and St. Vincent.

Other names that we could spot include Phoebe Bridgers, Damon Albarn, Dominic Fike, Radiohead‘s Ed O’Brien, Blood Orange and Anderson .Paak.

As for what exactly is in the works, fans are speculating that McCartney might be dropping a deluxe or remixed version of his new album McCartney III , which was released last December. The cover of that record features a photo of a die tipped on its side, which certainly adds credence to that hypothesis.

Stay tuned.

The majority of talk about this seems to focus on it being a covers album.  Sounds good to me if true.  I like a few of those names.  And Paul McCartney of course.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Yes it’s a cover’s album – McCartney III Imagined out the 16th of April.

It’s a yawn from me but alright Paul. Here is the first release from it The Kiss of Venus:

INTROVERTS UNITE! Separately....in your own homes!

                 ***

Make Love, Not Wardrobes!

                ***

So you mean a cover album as in the others cover Maccas McCartney III songs?

I wouldn’t be too interested in that. Would be more like Thrillington and less like Kisses On The Bottom .

I quite liked that ‘kiss of venus’ version above. Reimagined for the teen pop market. Nice.

Be interesting to see what some of the other acts come up with.

Nah, that really is the kind of vocal performance I just can’t stand. Somewhere between bragging, boredom, mumbling in sleep and faking an orgasm. And I don’t even want to talk about 2:08. If the brillance of the original composition and Maccas songwriting didn’t shine through, this would be total no-go song for me.

I just posted about this in the McCartney III thread.  If it’s just a bunch of covers, I’m not really interested anymore.  I feel like Paul is kinda out of touch when it comes to releasing stuff the fans want.

In principle, I think it’s a good idea – it’s possible that Paul could achieve a major hit as the songwriter of a cover version, and bring his music to ‘new’ audiences.  If so, that would be another accolade for him, but it’s very much subject to the quality of the covering artists and the covers they make.

And in the end

The love you take is equal to the love you make

Well, McCartney III was very much what I as a fan wanted (a great Macca album), so I can’t really complain and just ignore this new project…

I’m really interested to hear what artists as diverse as St Vincent,Josh Homme,Beck and Ed Obrien bring to the table with these songs.

I think it’s actually a ballsy move by Paul.

I guess I wasn’t super clear, but I was more referring to things supplemental to his music, like the archive releases, and this.

‘Threeimagined’. Cool name. Don’t really know or like many of those artists so I may not get around to listening to this until I don’t know when

The Beck collaboration absolutely slaps, transforming ‘find my way’ into a playful slice of disco. Like it.

Everyone wants to do McCartney.

Cover versions. Of course that’s what I meant.

My personal favourite so far, I love these guys. If you don’t know them, Khruangbin are a trio from Texas . This is the kind of spacey groovy stuff they do, they’ve totally reworked this. Apparently Khruangbin is Thai for aeroplane!

I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe.  This has been true for 2016 & 2017 Sig-Badge.png but I may have to get more specific in the future.
