News item from Paul McCartney today: the Deluxe CD Album will feature two bonus tracks plus access to a download of an exclusive live show (available from Tuesday 14th February via paulmccartney.com), plus longer liner notes and expanded packaging featuring three postcards)
These are the bonus tracks:15. Baby’s Request (03:30)
16. My One And Only Love (03:50)As you probably know, “Baby's Request” is a Paul McCartney composition, which was first heard on the Wings album “Back To The Egg ” back in 1979. It's one of McCartney's pastiches of old time songs and neatly fits in with a row of songs like “When I'm Sixty-Four”, “Your Mother Should Know “, “Honey Pie “, “You Gave Me The Answer” etc.
We certainly hope that this track has been re-recorded for this album, because we already have the “Back To The Egg Album”..
“My One and Only Love” is a popular song with music written by Guy Wood and lyrics by Robert Mellin. The song was published in 1952. It was recorded by Frank Sinatra on May 2, 1953 and released on Capitol 2505 as a 4-track EP, both on 45 rpm and 78 rpm. It's available on the Sinatra compilation “Nice 'n' Easy” and the song has also been covered by Sting.
The album artwork concept was conceived by Jonathan Schofield (Visual Director at Stella McCartney) and designed by Matthew Cooper (who has worked with artists such as Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand). Paul was photographed by his daughter Mary McCartney for the album sleeve.

Here's a good review for the album, with the announcement of Paul performing on the Grammy Awards and getting a tv special! I'm excited!

Yay!! Great news!! Something to look forward for this Valentine's Day!!
And yes Paul might not be getting royalties for most of the songs (the lyrics I mean), and yes, he might have done it because “he wanted to” but this album is going to be released in a perfect date.

Okay I call myself a huuuuge Paul fan and I didn't know about this until now… I really have been living in a hole.
So the general consensus seems to be that a preorder is in order. Agreed?

I'm actually looking forward to this. I was a bit underwhelmed at first – all we've had lately are a live album, an orchestral ballet soundtrack and how this (OK, and a lot of tour dates). But what I've heard has been very nice, and I'm glad he'd got to record these songs before he hangs up the microphone for good. Wonder if it'd be as good as Nilsson's A Touch Of Schmilsson In The Night, a collection of standards which is just gorgeous (and produced by Derek Taylor, no less).
What?! Don't speak of such things!! that will be a sad, sad day. A nice day because he rocked out and put so much awesome into this world for so long, but I never want that day to come…

I hope the TV Special is broadcast in the UK or at the very least, released here on DVD.
As for the album itself, I'm less excited than I could be. I heard “My Valentine ” twice on Radio 2 (Chris Evans' Breakfast Show and Simon Mayos' Drivetime) over the past few days and didn't think much of it to be honest.
I'll wait until it comes out and give it a listen in HMV (as I know someone who work there and they can put it on the PA for me) and then decide whether to buy it or not. I do have the rest of his back catalogue so I may end up just getting it for complete-ness.

If the tv special isnt broadcast here, it will be on youtube or available as a download about 3 minutes after its finished in the US. Some people see that as great thing, some people see it as a big nasty evil sucking the humanity from every living soul.

Tiffany (the major jewelry store in NY – this is their trademark color) has taken out a major ad in the New York Times (major newspaper) featuring a picture of Paul McCartney (pretty good picture from “a few” years back) and promoting “Only Our Hearts.”
You can apparently download the song for free at whatmakeslovetrue.com.
(I'll upload the ad as soon as I can figure out an easy way to upload a picture from my computer onto this site)
