I noticed that the remastered version is available on Amazon for preorder, and will be released November 2nd (US & UK). Anyone order it yet? I'll have to wait for my next paycheck.

Band On The Run is one of Paul’s best solo songs
I wish I had a job so I actually can afford the box sets right away. Has anybody ordered the 3 CD DVD book Version of The remaster? I really want it.
As if it matters how a man falls down.'
'When the fall's all that's left, it matters a great deal.
I’ve been sent the 2CD/DVD set, got it last night. I’m putting together a review, and am writing features on each of the nine songs on the original album. Haven’t watched the DVD yet apart from the Mamunia video.
It’s a nice package, v well put together, but I don’t think I’d pay £50 more for a 120-page hardback book and another audio CD. I did ask for the super deluxe version but the PR people didn’t have any.

I don't see any mention of 5.1 on the sleeve, and I don't have the means to test it either.

My Band On The Run album feature is here, if anyone fancies a read.
I still have to write about the final three songs, but those can wait a little longer.

Read it and left comments. Is this all you're doing for Paul for right now? I thought you wanted to cover George's work first.
Edit: His comment about Band On The Run is interesting. He originally said the he got “If we ever get out of this place” from George, but now he says he doesn't remember it that way. (The Making of Paul McCartney)

I was going to to George's stuff first, but I don't think I'll do either of them as thoroughly as I have done the Lennon songs/albums. I've decided to just do bits here and there for George and Paul, and the spur with this was the reissue of BOTR. If more come out I might do them in time, but really I must get the Beatles history thing finished first.
Interesting interview in that link. Perhaps he forgot about the origins of the line after all these years. Who knows? I also wonder if 'Let Me Roll It to you' was intentionally a George quote – I've not read McCartney say anywhere that it was.
Thanks for letting me know the corrections for the article. Much appreciated.

This thread was a riot to read through. Before I comment on the album, I just have to make this note about post #9 in this thread:
Joe said
When I went to George Martin’s talk last week, we were allowed to submit questions to be selected randomly. One of mine was read out: I asked whether there were any Beatles songs he wished had been recorded/produced differently. George’s response was simple: “God forbid!”
@Joe got to go to a George Martin talk. And he’s had a pint with Mark Lewisohn. And he went to the lecture in Studio 2 on his birthday this year.
That post also finds Joe being very poetic about Strawberry Fields Forever :
Needless to say, I think it’s a masterpiece. I couldn’t agree that it’s garbage because the lyrics don’t make sense – the words are an impressionist painting in song; few would argue that Monet would have been better if only he’d been a bit more accurate in his depictions.
Now, back on topic.
Listening to “Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five ” is like gorging on music. It is the whole Thanksgiving dinner, including dessert. I just have to take quiet rest break after listening to it.
There is this lyric in the song:
Oh my mama said the time would come when I
would find myself in love with you
I didn’t think
I never dreamed
That I would be around to see it all come true
Paul, now come on. Your Mother Should Know . You know that. She told you to Let It Be . Things will work out in their own way and their own timing.
I found this that skye saidback in 2010. Funny. Actually, the posts before (starting on page 10) and after that one (ending on page 11) are quite entertaining.
skye saidJet ? I haven’t seen her since Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five .

This from Mamunia
A seed is waiting in the earth
For rain to come and give him birthIt’s all he really needs to set him free
made me think of this from “Off The Ground “
Though it takes a lot of power
To make a big tree grow.
It doesn’t need a pot of knowledge.
For a seed knows what a seed must know.

BotR is an amazing album. Although I haven’t heard all (much) of his solo work, it’s my favorite solo Paul album. The title track is a really great song, and contains a line I really like, “…to a registered charity.” Paul wanted to make sure they were registered, he won’t give his money to just anyone!
Like AG said 1985 is overwhelming, but in the best way possible, a really enjoyable song with a perfect end to a near-perfect album, the swelling of the synth and the last few chords before bringing back a bit of Band On The Run .
Those two songs along with Jet are my three favorite on the album. Jet is just a really fun song to listen to/sing and I love the lyrics.

I’ve always enjoyed this album. As years have gone by, it has become one of my all-time favorites. I was thrilled when the remastered CD came out. To me, there are no “skippable” songs on it. Enjoyable from beginning to end, including all of the bonus songs/versions.
Thanks for bumping this thread AG. I miss watching GniknuS‘ avatar, lovingly dubbed the HMS Chicka Ferdy.

I thought about the robots for the Japanese portion of the “Out There” tour we talked about a few months ago.
