Many people use the whole video when Paul makes a mistake on David Letterman
Oh yes, that one has been repeated ad nauseam. Apparently, it’s entirely impossible that Paul might have
A) realised he gave people fresh ammunition to further their PID agenda, or
B) hammed it up because he knew how people would react to it, or
C) just been his natural self: easily distracted and full of nervous energy.
And then there are those who don’t know that 25C is considered ‘very hot’ by north-western European standards, so they argue that ‘it was a very hot day’ means the road would have been pretty much melting – ergo, he couldn’t possibly have walked on it without shoes.
Anyway, many people still subscribe to the myth to be edgy, not realising it stopped being ‘cool’ decades ago. Oh, and @Pineapple Records mentioned another good example of reversing the facts. Everyone (with half a brain) knows Paul’s ear lobes have always been detached, and they only look attached in a few photos. John was the only Beatle with attached ear lobes, but hey, facts don’t matter when you’re a ‘truther’. After all, common knowledge is just what the establishment wants you to believe…

I’ve come up with a lovely theory myself, you know. And I dare say it’s the best one yet, because mine ensures that Paul can never prove he is who he says he is. Funnily enough, I don’t think any of the PIDiots have ever proposed that particular theory yet. I’ll post it here, for a lark, if anyone wants to hear it.Ooh… my curiosity is piqued. I must hear this theory of yours.
Sorry for double posting, I completely forgot about this one. Alright, here we go…
My theory is, Paul did die (obviously), but a DNA test wouldn’t make any difference, because, wait for it… Phaul is Paul’s twin!
When Mary Macca gave birth (note that Jim wasn’t present because he was a volunteer at the fire brigade during the war), they told her one of the babies died and simply kidnapped ‘Phaul’, who grew up in a family that lost their little boy. It wasn’t something people talked about with the neighbours during those days and there still was one healthy baby left, so when Mary and baby Paul arrived home, nobody was ever told she actually gave birth to twins.
At some point, it was discovered that there was an identical twin, and when Paul died/was murdered, Phaul simply took his place. As an identical twin, he shared the same lucky genes, so not only was the resemblance enough to fool everyone (save for a few very perceptive people – after all, even identical twins look slightly different and the Truthers are the only ones that noticed), he also had the same musical talent, and might even have been left handed. His true identity explains why his family – which after all truly is his family – went along with it. They were just glad their long lost son/brother/cousin/nephew was part of their lives. It also explains why his voice, mannerisms, and everything else are basically the same. Much of that is genetic, after all.**
So, tl;dr: they only needed to teach Phaul how to play bass and stuff. Since Paul could learn to play pretty much any instrument quite easily, it’s safe to assume his twin would possess the same talent. It always surprised me none of the PIDiots have come up with something this simple. They’ve mentioned clones, but this is so much more logical, isn’t it?
** personal anecdote: I’ve got an adopted uncle who grew up away from his brothers. I did meet his bothers once, at my nan’s funeral. Though those men – by then we’ll in their fifties – grew up in different homes and never saw each other for decades, they had exactly the same mannerisms. Anyone could see they were brothers, and they weren’t even twins! If anyone ever had any doubt about the role genetics play in how we carry ourselves, that definitely was a great piece of evidence.

What am I gonna do with my life now that I don’t need to devote it to proving that Paul is really dead?!

Let just say that all my life, right up until just about a month ago, I didn’t give much thought to this myth. I only vaguely recalled it from years ago, and whenever I saw mention of it somewhere, I just smiled briefly and maybe cracked a joke about it, then moved on to more important or interesting stuff.
Then about a month ago, I must confess: I began YouTubing videos about this topic, and soon stumbled on that rabbit hole of a series produced by some outfit called “Rotten Apple”. I’m embarrassed to admit I found it fascinating, sort of like watching a car accident on the highway (pun intended…). All along, of course, foremost in my mind has been the obvious conviction that it’s all blithering balderdash. But I suppose it’s the fiction writer in me that gets sucked into it on the level of fantasy. Anyway, my recent delving has triggered a lot of thoughts and questions in my mind, and I feel the need to discuss it with someone who neither dismisses it out of hand, nor is some loony conspiracy nut…
I look forward to reading through a lot of these 20 pages, and thanks to Ahhh Girl for collating all the different threads about this into one place. Got my scuba suit, snorkel & flippers, ready to plunge in…!

This whole PID thing is ridiculous. How do they account for family members? I seriously doubt Jim or Mike wouldn’t have said anything. This is the swiss cheese of conspiracy theories. Maccadamia!!
Actually, I heard a brief interview with Michael (Paul’s brother) from one of the dozens of YouTubes I’ve watched on this — he was asked “Is Paul dead?” and without batting an eyelash, sounding perfectly serious, Michael answered: “Yes, Paul died in an earthquake in Mexico, in 1917. My little daughter has taken his place as his double…”

I just read all 20 pages of comments! A few brief thoughts:
1) I thought I saw some references among the YouTubes I’ve been watching to the effect that in fact rumors of Paul’s death preceded 1969, going back to 1967, about a car crash. I hate to have to slog through those videos to find that…
2) There’s an interview with George I think from the 1970s, where he mentioned Paul by name like three times, and distinctly says “Faul” each time…
3) 99.9999% of the “clues” I find unpersuasive, but two of them are odd:
a) a character in “Give My Regards To Broad Street ” introducing Paul as “William” to someone else; a woman during that video of Paul spending time in a Liverpool pub with the common people of his neighborhood clearly calling Paul “Bill”
b) the strange interview with Paul’s 3rd wife Heather after their acrimonious divorce, where she ominously mentions some “deep betrayal” that goes way beyond “infidelity” and then in another interview says she has a “box of evidence” to “protect herself” — all could be chalked up to her compromised character, of course, but still…
I will try to find links to some or all of the above soon…

There were certainly rumours in early 1967 that Paul had been killed in a car crash, @Pineapple Records, which were mentioned in the February 1967 Beatles Book Monthly.
Headed FALSE RUMOURS:
Stories about the Beatles are always flying around Fleet Street. The 7th January was very icy, with dangerous conditions on the M1 motorway, linking London with the Midlands, and towards the end of the day, a rumour swept London that Paul McCartney had been killed in a car crash on the M1. But, of course, there was absolutely no truth in it at all, as the Beatles’ Press Officer found out when he telephoned Paul’s St John’s Wood home and was answered by Paul himself who had been at home all day with his black Mini Cooper safely locked up in the garage.
But these related to an incident that supposedly occurred around two months after the date of 9 November 1966 which is the date generally used for Paul’s “fatal car crash”, which supposedly happened after an argument led to him storming out of the session. Only real problem, there was no Beatles’ session on 9 November, and Paul was on holiday abroad with Jane at the time.
I don’t know if you’ve read it, but @Joe has a great article on the PiD myth on the main site.

Sorry for the double post.
I sincerely hope nobody takes Heather’s ramblings too seriously. She’s been outed as a compulsive liar and fantasist by several people, including the judge ruling their divorce case.
You say you wish to discuss the matter with people who don’t outright call it rubbish. The problem is, you can’t do anything *but* call this thing rubbish, because that’s all it is. Either something is true, or it’s false. Since Paul is alive and well, the rumour is false. That’s all there’s to it. I’m sorry to be blunt, but anyone thinking there’s more to it, needs their head examined. And their eyes. And their ears.
