I like Yoko. I think she should have been the leader of The Beatles. If this unlikely turn of events had happened, I can picture Allen Klein shaking his head in sad disgust, mumbling “And I thought I was badass”… (use New Jersey “tough-guy” accent here)
She could have done great things like adding backing vocals of her wailing and chirping sounds to While My Guitar Gently Weeps , organizing a tour where she and the other Beatles performed free-form improvisations from inside big black bags, and using the other Beatles as her backing band for a concept album about women’s liberation from male corporate oppression.

I know John loved her and I completely accept that. Can’t change history. But, for the life of me, I just can’t like her. I can’t like Heather Mills either (though that is for very different reasons). In an attempt to bring a positive note to my feelings of ill-will…I must say that without Yoko, we certainly would not have had such interesting and juicy stuff to talk about on our forum!

I think before I would have said the same before I read more on her. Now it’s more like 30/70 veering more towards 20/80 every time I read another article like the one we’re discussing.

As the new leader of the Beatles (after kicking Klein to the curb) Yoko could have gone over the group’s back catalogue, and done some Ono-overdubbing; She could have shouted on “Twist And Shout ,” cried on “I’ll Cry Instead ” and “Cry Baby Cry ,” and called out names on “I Call Your Name .” These re-releases would then be known as the “badass mixes.”

I have just given up worrying about the whole lot of them as people and I just focus on the music I like.
I know I’m not perfect but every time I read a new biography I just get more and more disappointed – I suppose you have to have an ego the size of a planet to make it as big as they did and a lot of poor behaviour flows out of that.

I just keep going back to that quote “It’s allowed.”
