Reading this thread 11 months later, two things strike me:
1. Will’s absence thereafter tells its own story; and
2. Given the vast amount of italics, bold, and bold italics in his posts, I hate to think about the standard of his “journalism”.
This thread IS his journalism.

Interesting thread, to say the least. I know lots of people who attended that Vancouver show (unfortunately I was unable to make it over from the island that November), which was Paul McCartney ‘s first appearance in the city since The Beatles played Vancouver in 1964, and this is the first time that I’ve heard negative comments on it. The one thing that stands out for me that seems to be part of most other personal reviews that I’ve heard is how just about everyone was in tears at some point in the evening. The “best concert that I’ve ever seen” phrase was also common in most reviews that I’ve heard/read. It’s pretty clear that the OP’s concert experience was soured before he even gained admittance and I’m not sure that even guest appearances by John, George & Ringo themselves would’ve salvaged the night for him really.
From all the different footage that I’ve seen from Paul’s recent tours, I can agree on the drummer being too busy, but Paul seems to like this approach for I thought that about his previous drummer(s) as well. Even the OP’s claim of spending $500 on tickets wreaks of sour grapes, for I know some who paid considerably more than that and felt that they got every penny’s worth. As for Paul being “arrogant”? Well, as others have stated, what rock star isn’t? The difference with Paul is that he backs up the “arrogance” with substance, and if he were any less “arrogant”, he’d be incredibly “modest”. The man is in his 70’s and certainly doesn’t need the money from touring, he does it simply because he (and 99.999999% of his audiences) enjoys it. This particular Vancouver show is still being talked about by the locals and media, it’ll be a measuring stick that subsequent concerts in the city will be measured by for years. The near 3 hours of timeless music, the appearance by the local Delta Police band for the ‘Mull Of Kintyre ‘ encore, the list goes on…:-)

Fine by me. I’ve called Paul out on a few things, but this guy’s rants were uncalled for.
Hey, but we got a really neat gif from LHL out of it in post 43.

I don’t agree, rule number one when it comes to trolling on any forum is don’t feed the troll, and many were quite happy to do so here if that was the case. He seems to have genuinely not enjoyed the show, but his reasons appear to me to have nothing to do with the show itself. I haven’t lived in Vancouver since the 90’s, but I’ve never even heard of the ‘MetroNews’ until before this thread, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist but it’s certainly not a “go to” publication when it comes covering Vancouver concert events. Kudos to the gent for trying to pass himself off at the gate as a reporter, but only a select few have privileges that certain well established media folk have, such as bringing in high grade photographic equipment, you have to earn your “Press Pass” and the OP should’ve learned from the experience instead of trying to evoke sympathy, especially here on a Beatles’ forum!…:-)

I copied and pasted the gif into Word, and this is what I got. I hope it comes through okay. You don’t see this image as clearly in the gif. I like.
If it doesn’t come through, I’ll post it another way.

That island must really love the Beatles, considering there are 3 (at least) on just this one forum. And here I am, all the way on the other side of the continent in Northeast USA.
Anyway, I was watching Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road on YouTube, and as I looked through the comments, guess who showed up?
Guess that concert really made a bad impression and kind of ruined Paul for him

I far prefer the story of McCartney’s first Vancouver concert.
If you can get hold of the recording, 18 or 19 minutes into the concert, McCartney seems to intentionally hit a wrong note on “If I Fell ,” and he and John then crack up as the song chugs along.

Kinda sounds like the 1964 Hollywood Bowl recording, you sure it’s not the same under a different guise? This was common practice amongst Beatleggers to use the “common” recordings to suit the “demographic” of their choosing…:-)
