Is it poor sound or does Paul’s voice sound that rough nowadays? It’s terrible at times. ‘We Can Work It Out ‘ is dire.

I’m not going to watch the video; it can never live up to the thrill of being there. In fact, it would sooner tarnish the memory because yes, Paul’s voice is deteriorating rapidly. You don’t notice it as much when you’re there in the moment, but I did hear more bum notes and cracks in his voice than I wish to remember. I rather just cherish the general impression, which was great.

Sadly, his voice is shot.

So does that mean no more tours and records or that he needs some rest. I hope he hasn’t truly ruined his vocal cords
He needs to call that voice box masseuse guy (I don’t think I spelled that correctly) and see if he can help him. He does sound quite rough, it’s making me a bit sad. I don’t think he could even muster “Long Tall Sally ” anymore. Much of that Little Richard-esque stuff sounds painful even when he was doing it in ’64. You can only keep doing it for so long.

Well, he is seventy-four years old. You can’t expect him to sound twenty years old forever.

I think if he’d swallow that pride and get some proper treatment for his larynx, he might be able to get some of his voice back. But he’d have to take a step back, and make some sacrifices. He obviously doesn’t want to do that, or he would have by now. With the right treatment, a kinder schedule, and a setlist better suited for his ageing voice, he could go on for years!

He can skip the getting dressed part…. You know, strictly for entertainment purposes, of course. No sordid ulterior motives there whatsoever. I wouldn’t dare.
Do you believe me yet?

Hmm I’m tempted to visit the States in October and California especially.
Can anyone recommend Sacramento as a place worth visiting as it wasn’t going to be on my itinerary? and then I can go to the Macca gig and see him for the fourth time having seen him in Liverpool, London and Amsterdam.
I believe the Desert Trip one is sold out but LA was on my itinerary.

$42 for a pass to go on the shuttle?!!
How much will a burger and coke cost or can I just bring my own cow and offer the choice meat as a sacrifice to their god of taking the financial piss before making myself my own burger?

The shuttle pass is only $25 plus a $5 processing fee if you buy it straight from the Desert Trip web page. https://aeg.festivalticketing……0B93F277F6 (in case that link doesn’t work, see this one http://www.valleymusictravel.c…..-shuttles/)
That is actually not a bad deal. Dedicated pick-up and drop-off locations and not having to drive in all that insanity.

I must say that while I’ve never been to a McCartney concert, I’ve seen videos of some of his more recent performances. The thing with his concerts is that even if his voice is deteriorating, he certainly gives some of the best performances you can get nowadays. While he’s given great shows, he’s just been different since he returned to live performing in 2002.
And just keep in mind that Bob Dylan is 75 and can barely sing anymore. And his concerts are, quite frankly, trash.

Sounds like a bargain this Desert Trip! how much were the tickets originally? I might just await the UK dates which will hopefully happen this year and make do with the Beatles convention given that the Abbey Road sessions isn’t happening.
My Canada/USA trip itinerary is possibly this –
Calgary (for Lake Banff) – 2/3 nights
Vancouver – 3 nights
Seattle – 2 nights
Las Vegas – 3 nights
San Fran – 3 nights
Los Angeles – 4/5 nights
so it’s just whether i fit Sacramento in or just wait for a UK date.

I listened to Dylan’s ‘Shadows In The Light’ album and have earmarked it as the album to have on if I ever want to depress myself to the point where I am in the bath with the toaster plugged whilst the gas is cranked up to high throughout the house. His cover of ‘Things We Said Today ‘ is horrendous, sounds like a mad stalker speaking down the phone to his latest obsession whilst trying to disguise his voice.

I got Dylan’s newest album, Fallen Angels, the day after it was released. It was a great album if you take the music (which isn’t even his originally, might I note) and don’t pay too much attention to his voice, which makes him sound like he’s been dead for thirty years. I suppose all that smoking has caught up to him.
Anyways, my point was that McCartney is only a few years younger than Dylan and McCartney hasn’t gotten to that point. Dare I say I don’t think McCartney will ever actually get to that point before he decides to retire.
