I really like New album, speaking of his material after the 90s. It’s pretty underrated.
Totally agree. And Egypt Station is excellent too.

New is great. I used to listen to it a lot circa 2016 or so, and I picked up a copy recently and was struck anew by how solid it is.

I’m trying to identify a song by Paul but can’t remember the title or any lyrics really. All I can say is I think it’s in the 2000s, possibly as recently as a few years ago. There was a part in the lyrics where it sounds like he’s poking around in his garden, looking at little things like flowers and things.
That’s all I got! If anyone could help, I’d appreciate it.

Is it English Tea (on the album Chaos And Creation In The Backyard )?
Miles and miles of English garden
Stretching past the willow tree
Lines of hollyhocks and roses

I listened. It’s a lovely song but I’m not sure it’s the one. It’s possible Paul recorded it during the pandemic, so around 2020 to 2022? If anyone knows of a song during that period that mentions a garden and flowers and things, that may be the one I’m looking for.

That suggests the album McCartney III . Is it Winter Bird / When Winter Comes (on that album)?
I must find the time to plant some trees

In time to come they’ll make good shade for some poor soul

Did you know that Paul McCartney was to be cast in an episode of FRIENDS?
The 1998 season 4 final would have seen Sir Paul cast as Emily’s father, as Ross and the gang travel to London for the wedding, ultimately Rachel turns up, Ross says the wrong name, and Emily runs out, eventually divorcing Ross — He’d be divorced 3 times!
Paul apparently had other commitments, but was “flattered” to be considered. Maybe more people would have watch Friends if for that.

I find it hard to wrap my head around the idea of Paul being cast as a mere human being, or in any other role other than Sir James Paul McCartney .

That would have been funny — imagine Paul on the American “Office” comedy show, playing a temp file clerk who is chronically inept and can never get the right files for the office staff.

…but he secretly stays late, and sets up his instruments and amps and recording gear all throughout the office; and then…
I can see it, maybe!
But as an actor, frankly, Paul has consistently shown us that…he isn’t a very good one; so I still kinda doubt it…

I mean this as a token of my undying appreciation so I guess this is as good a place to admit this as any.
I’m just not prepared for the day Paul leaves us.
I know that no one is, or will be. But I for one am absolutely terrified of it. Is it just me?
I was very young when George died and wasn’t born when John was taken away. Im 33 and have followed his work practically half my life. This man has brought me through so much – Inspired so much – taught me so much about who I want to be as a person (As all the Beatles have) and yet I’ve never been able to go to a concert of his. I feel like I owe it to him to shake his hand and tell him a sincere, mature “Thank you” from the bottom of my heart for all he’s done for me since i was a child, and it hurts knowing I may never get that chance.
I just want to tell everyone about how wonderful all four of them are and were, and in Paul’s case…I just don’t know how it’ll hit me. Does anyone else feel like this? Like–a celebrity is just a person, and i know this, but that man and his music have saved my life so many times that I just can’t fathom a world without him…and I just wish there was a way I could show him my gratitude.
I know he said hw prefers the celebratory approach rather than mourning…
–I’m sorry, i just–I was curious if anyone else feels this way, thats all. I mean this with so much respect.

@MattWatchingWheels, you are not alone in dreading the utter pain and sadness you are going to experience when Paul departs from this life. He has brought jubulance, hope, and comfort to the masses, and the masses will mourn. I will be in that throng if I’m around to witness an Earthly existence that doesn’t include him breathing the same air we breathe.
I’m dreading seeing the Fourm thread for the topic pop up that fateful day.

I recall seeing some awards show in the early 2000s where Paul was speaking to the audience. Linda had died just a couple of years prior (1998). He mentioned her, and referred to her as a “friend”. What struck me was how utterly un-sad his expression and mannerism were — only pure love & serenity. My sense was that he was so close to her, he knew she would want him to acknowledge her this way, not in some weepy way. I kind of think he’d like us to do the same when he leaves us. (I just broke my own rule — getting teary eyed here…)

What hurts the most is that, obviously one’s first instinct is to go “Well, best give him his flowers while he’s here” but then…I can’t. I’ll never be able to afford tickets to his shows, or to make myself important enough for him to notice me. All I can do is profess admiration of him to others.
And look: I know full well that that’s the kind of hero worship John and George couldn’t stand, but…The impact he’s had on my life is so monumental. I would probably not be here today if it weren’t for him. When I was sad, his music was there. When I felt estranged and different, and outcast due to my disability, “Junk” was there. His songs are the sole reason I understood my own feelings. Never mind how he taught me to put love first, even when it isnt easy. Never mind how his environmentalism made me understand animal rights. Never mind how hr’s responsible for so many good memories, so many friendships, even. I wouldn’t have met half of my friends without him…
Whenever I hava bad time in my life, he’s always been there to help me remember who I am…
I just want to thank him so badly that sometimes it actually hurts,
