The pictures are actually a bit annoying. You can take photographs at Mendips, John’s childhood home, but you can’t (or aren’t meant to) at Forthlin Road because many of the pictures have been provided by Mike McCartney, and you’re told his copyright on them prevents photography inside the house.

When I went there in 2010 we were told not to take any pictures inside Mendips either (we were also told about the Mike McCartney copyright thing). Didn’t stop me though.

Thank you. This is a question of great interest to me too.
Paul doesn’t play on She Said She Said – due to a disagreement beforehand.
I think he sings and plays on Revolution 9 because parts of that recording are from Take 20 of Revolution 1 .
Paul doesn’t play on the following songs, but I don’t know the reasoning (possibly aesthetic considerations):
Julia , which only features John, although Paul was observing the recording of Take Two (the Anthology 3 version) from the studio control room as some dialogue between John and Paul can be heard on this version.
Within You Without You – George is the only Beatle on this recording.
Good Night – Ringo is the only Beatle on this track.
What’s The New Mary Jane – John and George are the only Beatles on this one.
There may be others. Can anyone here add to this list, please?

I remember reading about one of you driving by Paul’s farmhouse in Scotland a day or so ago (apologies as I can’t for the life of me remember who it was, nor what thread it was in), and ASJ (?) saying that she thought Paul sold it or at least no longer goes there anymore because of painful memories attached to it, or something of that regard. I was thinking for a while, and quickly became intrigued by it.
Thus, my question is: What’s really happened to it?

I am currently re-reading Hunter Davies’ authorised biography of The Beatles, and I’d forgotten how fascinating the chapter about their songwriting is. Anyway of all the songs and fragments of lyrics Davies mentions there’s one about a girl with a red umbrella (written by Paul) which I don’t recognise. Was this song ever recorded and released?

Hey does anyone know why Paul giggles during Maxwell’s Silver Hammer (while singing “writing fifty times I must not be so”)? I looked it up and have seen a lot of conflicting stories.

The story I’ve heard was that johnandyoko, when on their double bed on the studio, did something funny which caused him to giggle. I have no idea if that’s the truth or not.

I have read in multiple places that John made some kind of joke that caused it, but on one site it said that John mooned Paul in a play on the previous line of the song, which was “Maxwell waits behind.” This seems unlikely (how could Paul have carried on singing in such a composed manner?) but idk. I was curious to see other people’s thoughts.

I noticed that “Sailor Sam” is mentioned in Helen Wheels and in Band On The Run . Was that intentional? Does it mean anything?

Knowing Paul he probably knew a Sailor Sam from Birmingham, and they’re now dead which is why they can’t capitalise on their Wings’ fame.

Is there any way I can send fan mail to Paul?
He doesn’t reply unfortunately. The only way you’ll get an autograph or anything like that is stumbling upon him somewhere or going to an event he’s hosting like museum/gallery debuts of Linda’s photography.
I imagine he receives at least 10s, if not 100s of letters a week at his various establishments so I’ve never heard of anyone getting a reply.
