I agree with you. My point is why you should mock at teens for not knowing who Paul is? Most of the young people live in Facebook, and they are not aware of the news. There are people so into their worlds that they don’t pay attention to other stuff. I’m just stating a fact
I don’t think it’s as much mocking as it is complete and utter disbelief. He is just such an icon, and The Beatles are as much a part of popular culture now than they ever were. It’s just hard to believe that people who are so surrounded by media everyday can’t name arguably the most famous musician of the last century. It may be a fact, but it’s a sad one.

Kelicopter, instead of saying something creative and witty of my own, I’ll quote the immaculate Paul Wells (the great Canadian journalist): “I’m pretty sure the error lay in expecting any other result.” And he’s right – would a kid in 1988 know Frank Sinatra? Probably not. I don’t care – it’s their loss, not mine. Not anything to get mad at.

Edit : Good point there SunKing.
Well the thing is Kelicopter that they are surrounded by media.. but they don’t pay attention at all. I guess that happens when you’re a teen. And most of teens consider 80s music as “old music”. It’s what their parents listen to, so it’s normal they don’t like it. (I don’t like some of the music my Dad listens to…)
Still. As I said to a Beatle troll: “Your opinion will not diminish the fact that in the years to come, when people look at the history of music of the last century, the first name in there will be “The Beatles” “
(Yes I did the faces to him)
(And I was not criticizing you directly kelicopter. i meant people in general)

Oh don’t worry, I know! As Sun King rightly said, it’s their loss, not mine. I know that I’m a fan of the greatest band ever and that’s all that matters.

Speaking of the Grammys, you know how there was a mini-rumourette about Ringo’s presence setting the stage for some kind of mini-reunion? My mom called me that night and mentioned something about it and how it wouldn’t amount to much “with just the three of them.” I was like wtf, THREE of them?! “Mom, George is dead! He’s been dead for 10 years!” She’d somehow not gotten the news in the last decade!
And to think that she was a big enough Beatle fan to plan to attend their Toronto concert in 1964…
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

That’s funny!!!!
I guess it was all downhill after Toronto…
She’s just doing her thing, living in the material world.

OK, here’s a Grammy theory to ponder. Joe Walsh was one of the guitarists duelling on The End . He’s married to Barbara Bach’s sister, making him Ringo’s brother in law. He’s also a sometime member of the All Starr Band.
So… given that Ringo was due to present an award at the Grammys, what’s the betting that he would also have joined Paul’s band, drumming alongside Abe Laboriel Jr, had he been well enough? It’s just a hunch, but wouldn’t it have been pretty spectacular?

I figured when I saw his kisser on CBS’s Promo’s for the Grammy’s that was official enough.

That would have been cool. I’d be slipping Paul drinks laced with diuretics, increasing my chance to sit in his chair. “Hey Nance – can I call you Nance? – how’s it going?”

@Zig But shouldn’t the diuretics be slipped to Nance so you can sit next to Paul? “Hey P – can I call you P?”
