Has anybody ever seen these pictures? I came across them on tumblr tonight:
Apparently, but this is from tumblr so I have absolutely no idea how true it is, she is a model that Paul “secretly” dated when he was with Jane? I know (even according to “Many Years From Now”) who Francie Schwartz is and of course countless other women over the years, but I was really surprised to find them because I have seen millions of pictures of Paul, and have never come across any of these before, or heard the name before… They almost look photo-shopped. Looks like around 1968, maybe just before Linda was a permanent fixture? Tumblr says 1966, but I don’t trust it… but maybe, I can’t tell. The last picture looks older than the rest of them, it might not even belong, I don’t know. If I could see if he has the scar on his lip I could tell the year, but it be too grainy.
Hope someone has some input!

She does appear to be someone who Paul was involved with between 1966 and 1968. These pictures appear to date from a short trip they took to Sardinia at the beginning of September 1968. (The tee-shirt would appear to be the one he wears in the Revolution video on 4 September.) The photos do not look like they have been photoshopped to me, merely poor quality scans from a newspaper article.
This is what I have been able to gather about the story coming out.
In 1997 the British Daily Mail revealed the relationship, with confirmation from Maggie’s mother. Later, unhappy with aspects of how the Daily Mail had told the story, she gave what appears to be her only interview to the British People newspaper, looking to correct the Daily Mail version of events. I would suggest these pictures are taken from that article.
That article, or something based on it, appears on Beatle Photo Blog (below the pictures).

In a Daily Mail article published in 2010, which is an edited extract from Howard Sounes’ FAB: An Intimate Life of Paul McCartney (a book I haven’t read myself), she is referred to again in a piece detailing Paul’s love life. Importantly, it includes a confirmation of the relationship from Barry Miles.
“‘They saw each other on and off for quite a few years,’ says his friend, the writer Barry Miles, confirming that Maggie was ‘only one of many’.”
I would suggest that were Sounes’ misquoting Miles, Miles would have sued.
The article is here:

Hope this helps.

I’ve seen the last photo before, maybe in Mojo. Isn’t that Barry Miles lighting his cigarette?

He wasn’t the sweet little innocent that he originally appears to be, was he?
Noooo. One of his bios estimated that he slept with between 500-600 women before he finally settled down.

Thanks for the info, mja! It’s probably all true, it’s very believable. I love the young Paul, but I have so much more respect for him after the 70’s, when he became a family man and started behaving himself. I get it, it was the 60’s and… well, just look at him, that man is just sex. I think that’s why I get bugged with all the Jane Asher stuff on tumblr. I know that she was the muse for a lot of his songs, but people sensationalize a relationship that was very dishonest on Paul’s part. I like him better as an honest man… but really, who wouldn’t sleep with that?
seriously…

LOL. I updated my quote from “settled” to “settled down,” as I realized the original version could read as a dig against Linda.

Do you mean dishonest in the sense that he didn’t care for Jane, or the fact that Paul was cheating on her (possibly without her knowledge; I never quite bought the “open relationship” thing, as I gather Jane was never made aware of the fact, lol).

I’m just referring to him constantly cheating on her. I’m sure he did care for her, despite his promiscuous actions. I would be very surprised if she didn’t have any idea, but it is also possible she was in denial for a long time.

I didn’t even notice, lol.

I imagine she was aware. It’s the convenient “open relationship” line I’m giving the side-eye.

Yeah, and wasn’t it one of the guys that worked for them that said that the girls would line up and wait for him to finish with one so the next one could go in. So dirty, Paul

Which makes me suspicious of the lack of pregnancies that must have happened during those years. To my knowledge, there was only one case of a woman suing Paul for that. If Paul was as promiscuous as this rumor implies, there would have been many more. Perhaps Paul has been diligent about “settling out of court”.

Or the ladies he went with where just as promiscuous with other people/musicians of the time and had no idea who would have been the father. It was the 60’s.

Were many girls on “the pill” back then, or was that later on? Or maybe his promiscuousness back then is completely false because it was some kind of cover up and he wasn’t not the dirty slut he’s been made out to be…..
… yeah, probably not.
Another thing: I’m not sure I believe the part of Maggie’s story about Paul going to see her all upset the night before he was to marry Linda. It could have happened, but I would like to think that he was pretty devoted to Linda at that point, being about to marry her and plus her being pregnant (which, according to Paul, was not an accident). It’s easy for people to fantasize things like that, to make it out to be more than it was.

Well, the pill is directly related to the sexual Revolution , so that would be around the time women would have started using it. Another question is, would Paul be using protection too? :->

Supposedly Paul and Linda had a huge argument the night before they married and almost called off the wedding. Perhaps the two stories are related?

I believe the pill was made legal/available to married women (though that didn’t stop unmarried girls just pretending to have a husband) in the mid-sixties so no doubt they would’ve all been on it.
