I love Linda’s voice, I think I started a thread about it before. Especially on “Long Haired Lady”. That song would not be the same without her raw vocals.

Yeah, I would’ve figured you liked that song! Sorry that I don’t share your opinion, though – that’s my least favourite Ram track precisely because of Linda’s singing. She just sounds so…bratty. Really irritates me.
I like Linda best in small doses, like when she adds backing vocals on “Let it Be” or the “occasional oos” on the McCartney album.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

That’s okay because that’s why I like the vocals in that song. It’s that they are so “bratty”. I just think it suits the song well.

I like Linda’s bratty sound. I think Paul detected that and used it to advantage. The weakness of the song Long Haired Lady, in my opinion, is its rather plodding tempo and repetitive nature. Linda’s voice and Paul singing those two little refrains based on F major–Bb major–D7–G7 are what I like.

The ending “Love is looooong” is long, for sure.. but I love it.

I admit I like Linda’s bratty sound too. It seemed to fit very well for that era for some reason.

Yeah, I can see that! Punk in an untrained kinda way…I’m glad that everyone knows what I mean by “bratty”…if you all can enjoy something that irritates me, then I guess I can appreciate it a little more for that reason. Hooray!
(Damn, I was so mean on this thread and said almost nothing nice about Linda McCartney…she was a fine lady. And the fact that she was LHL’s hero as a young girl makes me happy. )
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I first heard of Linda on The Simpsons episode that she did with Paul. I listened to the commentary for that particular episode a couple of years ago and all of the directors, producers and actors who worked with Linda said she was a great lady who was really passionate for what she believed in which I thought was sweet.
I like Linda’s voice, on some songs it could be a bit jarring but over-all she was a good edition to Wings/Paul’s solo work and just a great supporter for Paul so with that she has my utmost respect

I like Linda.
And I also like her voice. It worked perfectly with Paul’s.

I agree. I think a lot of people agree that her voice gelled well after all, but initially, she was seen as a laughing stock by most, I gather. Sad.
And I absolutely love Seaside Woman .

‘Seaside Woman‘ is one of my favourite Wings songs. Love it.

There is no Linda appreciation thread such as we have for others, might this not fit the bill as the basis for merged threads?

Can we not just go something like with ‘The Lovely Linda McCartney Appreciation Thread’. Simple but with song reference. Other far far superior suggestions will exist.

I thought this thread might work because it was called “Lovely Linda McCartney: 15 Years Ago Today”, which I thought could be adapted to something similar to mmm’s suggestion. Only the “15 Years Ago Today” needed replacing.
“The Lovely Linda , Veggie Cook of the House: An Appreciation Thread”.

Lovely Long-Haired Lady Linda McCartney Appreciation Thread because too much alliteration can’t be bad
