How to improve it? Put it on a double A sided single with Revolution 9 . Put the single in a paper bag. Put the paper bag in the back of an inaccessible cupboard. Sell the house with the cupboard in it. Move to a different country.
Finally, someone who dislikes this song as much as I. For the life of me, I don’t get what everyone likes about this techno-pop-Devo-like dreck. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. Every time I think, “hmmm, people seem to like this, I’ll give it another go”
**I apologize to crap for insulting it.
Give it to Metallica to heavy it up. That should improve it.

I would like to apologize to @Pineapple Records as the thread’s OP and fans of this song for “piling on” the dislike for it. It was his intention to discuss his like for the song and how he could have made it even better to his ears. Unfortunately, in no small part due to my actions, the discussion is getting away from his intentions.
Going forward, I respectfully ask everyone to stay on topic. If you dislike the song, there are other threads in which to express it. That is why I moved my points to the “Derail” thread.
Again, apologies to PR and fans of this song.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

No problem, Zig — when I create a thread or topic, I don’t mind when people may meander sideways. I figure, why not? It’s not the end of the world — it’s only one little topic area inside a subsection inside another subsection of one part of a website inside the World Wide Web, wrapped in an enigma in a riddle in a burrito …

I agree…….’It can be no other than a maleficent horizontally propelled current of gaseous matter whose propentous advent is not the harbinger of a modicum of beneficence’.

It’s not to my taste…….There are always some tracks I like least on any of their solo records…….This one I dislike. Maybe he wrote it to prove he had crap ‘down’ too.
Paul proved he had crap ‘down’ with ‘Bip Bop’.

Regarding my original post — it occurred to me that my 9/8 tempo suggestion need not be for the whole song. The song could begin in 4/4 as it does, then say at about mid-point when the formula begins to get a tad repetitive & tedious (ahem…), switch suddenly to 9/8 from then on.

Oy! Don’t you go hatin’ on Bip Bop!
Bip bop, bip bop bop,
Bip bop bip bop band!
I can’t help it, I think it’s a cute tune. Great? Nope. But cute. Just like Hey diddle, especially the live version where you can hear baby Mary laughing.
Now.

[Intermission]
‘Bip Bop’ could have been cute if it lasted 50 odd seconds, like the two link tracks*. Instead it not only exceeds that time but drives me to extreme irritation due to it never shutting the heck up for over 4 minutes.
*I forgot about ‘Bip Bop (Link)’, i actually like that.

This thread is something else, geezsh. I think you have a cool idea for the song there PR. I heard it live for the first time and it was amazing! Listening to the album version is a bit lacking to me. A new drum beat would cool to hear under it!

To improve it, I would say have Weird Al Yankovic sing it. Oh wait, maybe that is he already.

Pineapple RecordsI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Did the ‘Twin Freaks ” reworking improve it?

It rearranged it and emphasised the beat a bit more. That could be called improvement, but I like the original.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

The Twin Freaks version is not really an improvement — it’s sort of good on a “sideways” angle.
