Who are our other Aussies?
I guess I can’t complain he isn’t crossing the ditch to New Zealand having seen the four of them in their manic early days. Paul’s 7 years older than me and I can’t imagine touring at his age!

Paul is what a recent article in AARP magazine calls a “super ager”. With all my sciatica pain, I can’t stand up as long as he does and I’m a quarter of a century younger than him.

Sciatic pain – aaarrggghhhh! had it only once and it was about the worst pain I’ve ever had. Sorry for you, @Ahhh Girl. Interesting article! Having an endlessly creative brain must be a contributing factor and I doubt Paul ever wants to let go of public performance. People can call it egoism but I can forgive him anything

I’m sure he loves performing. He soaks up the audience’s applause. He even takes a moment during the concert to just listen to the cheers and says it makes him think of the fans in the sixties.
And he loves his music and wants to share it as much and as long as he can. Sometimes I wonder if he feels like he owes it to the world to perform as long as he can. You know, the old phrase “to whom much is given, much is required.” I don’t mean that in terms of money. Just so much musical talent in one mind and body. I wonder if he thinks, “I was part of the phenomenon that released this music in the world so I owe it to the fans to keep playing the music as long as I can.”
Ugg, I hope I conveyed the thought in mind on this. I can’t seem to get the wording right.
@oldfannz, I changed my username sometime back so if you’re using a phone to @ me, use cbatcu. If you are on a desktop, make sure to select the name from the drop-down menu that comes up after you type the @

Firstly, no I’m not on a phone when I post here, and I’m not on any form of social media, so not on X – I just put the @ in there because I thought it might be the only way of connecting to you!! Pardon my stupidity! There are a lot of people my age who are far more technologically advanced than me!
I think what you said about Paul absolutely nails it. I could not agree more. If you have had a lifetime of adulation, if you have been through the sheer craziness of the phenomenon that was Beatlemania in the 1960s as Paul has, a lot of people would not be able to let that intoxication go and would feel a deep nostalgia for it. Well, of course, George and John let go to some extent but Ringo missed it deeply and they all kept on performing.
And I think you are right in saying he wants to keep sharing his music as long as he can. What’s wrong with that? People can think he is a bit past it in terms of performing, maybe his voice isn’t so great, maybe he will at some point struggle with the physical and technological side of performing, maybe he won’t recognise when he should really let it go. I’ll feel really sad for him if and when that happens because my respect for him is so huge. He has been a part of my life for 60+ years. I really don’t take much interest in the critical stuff said about him here – his ego, his dubious “memories” of what happened, just because no one’s perfect, our memories are all unreliable even without deliberate intent to deceive (a family story told by different members can be wildly different and provoke resentment or incredulity)
I am digressing from the thread yet again. I must exercise some self control!
Paul will live forever, the Beatles will live forever and this forum is a great place to celebrate that!

Actually I’m wrong to imply Ringo missed the touring. He did miss the company of the other guys when they split up, maybe more than the others did (if I’m not mistaken!)

When you look at the many times post-Beatles period when Ringo seemed to invite the other Beatles to do little (or somewhat big) things on his albums, whereas the others didn’t seem to do that in return — neither to him nor to the others — it does seem Ringo was the more magnanimous of the four.

Some Italian channel reported that Paul’s tour manager was talking about performing in Italy, which means also a European tour.
