After The Beatles, of course.
It’s hard to judge his relationship with Kanye at this point because they’ve only released one track, but given that Kanye is one of a very few modern musicians who holds a torch to Paul, I’m optimistic.
My favourite has to be Nigel Godrich though. Paul’s best solo album is Chaos And Creation, after all.

Myself, I think it’s a bit strange having Nigel Godrich on a list of successful musicians, as – while he is a musician – he is primarily a producer, and was hired by Paul as a producer.
I’m not denigrating Godrich’s contribution, just saying there’s a massive difference in the collaboration between a musician and a producer, and between a musician and musician. It’s also weird seeing Wings on your list as they were Paul’s band. Collaborations, to me, occur between artists who do not usually work together.
To my mind, Paul has had no more successful a collaboration with another artist than his work with Elvis Costello.

I’m with Ron in opting for Elvis Costello. Wrote some fantastic songs together in which Elvis really challenged and tackled Paul in his lyrics, not just accepting whatever Paul wrote in the first place. Shame they didnt get on as well in the recording studios.
Note: I messed my vote up by not seeing Elvis Costello as one of the options. Apologies.

I don’t think any of the collaborations worked that well. I’m a big fan of Costello, Lynne and Paul Simon but really I’d rather see Paul just pick up his guitar and play what comes into his head. Back to simple.George Martin should be on the list.
Have I missed something? I know they’ve performed live together on occasion, but I can’t come up with any studio recordings they’ve made together.

I like the 3 songs he did with Michael Jackson…….And just voted for them.
I can see why Paul would want to work with Costello…..The ‘sneering John’ similarity. But apart from ‘Veronica’ it didn’t work for me.
On the subject of sneering there’s been lots of that regarding ‘Ebony And Ivory ‘……But who better to sing that song with. I only found Paul’s ostentatious playing of all the instruments in the video a little too self-promoting and egotistical. “What’s that your Saying?” worked very well.
Whoever Paul works with………They’re not John Lennon ……End of.
My favorite ever post John ‘collaboration’……..The one where he takes a very respectful lead……..and lends melodic subtleties that are heartfelt……producing for me his best ever vocal……is on ‘All Things Must Pass ‘ Concert For George.

Doh! I really like Paul Simon’s guitar playing but I have no idea why I was thinking of him as a collaborator. Perhaps I’ve seen a video of them on stage together or something. Sorry for any confusion.

I am not a Michael Jackson fan, but there falsetto voices were pretty amazing together on Say Say Say. What about the firemen collaboration? Do they have to share a writing credit to be a collaborator? How is Eric Stewart not an option? I know it might of been a dull period in his career commercially but they co-wrote at least 5 songs together. I also really liked Steve Millers guitar work and backing vocals on Young Boy. Or David Gilmour on No More Lonely Nights.

@Musketeer Gripweed (is that Musketeer Gripweed? This new feature has me bamboozled) – I couldn’t work out how to post the poll when I included everyone, so I trimmed out a few people… including, quite by accident, Dave, Krist and Pat, sorry @Sky999!
I left out George Martin and the other Beatles just because they were too obvious. I included Wings in case anyone wanted to vote for Denny or Linda. I included Lynne because I wanted to include Godrich, because Godrich held Paul to standards he hasn’t been held to often enough since.
