Probably mentioned already……
I’ve always felt Paul 100% meant what he was singing when he sang ‘Maybe I’m Amazed ‘

Absolutely one of the best love songs I’ve ever heard. Macca may have had a penchant for filling the world with Silly Love Songs, but he sure could write some outstanding non-silly love songs too. And I say this as a connoisseur of love songs.
I Will (debatable whether it’s silly or not), HT&E, Maybe I’m Amazed , Every Night , Calico Skies, Somedays, to name a few of my favourites…

Paul has updated his website. I went to the link I have been using for his lyrics, and got this…
“Looks like you broke a string!”
LOL

Paul often gets talked about as the other side of the coin when it comes to John’s darker love songs. Paul is writing about happy relationships in a major key and is mostly positive. (This isn’t true, ie. Im Looking Through You, For No One , etc.)
Something I recently noticed is how And I Love Her and Ill Follow the Sun are the complete opposite of each other. And I Love Her is moody and dark. Mostly in minor, with images of the night sky, it has a feeling of mystery and conflict. But lyrically it is purely positive. “She gives me everything and tenderly” “A love like ours will never die” Its a brilliant song with a really cool contrast that also exists in Ill Follow the Sun.
Ill Follow the Sun is in C major, with an upbeat picking pattern and a catchy hook. All the ingredients for a classic Paul love song full of positivity. But the lyrics are negative, pessimistic, and sad. They deal with a lack of commitment to a relationship, feeling like dark times are ahead and so its better to just leave it behind. The exact opposite of And I Love Her in terms of lyrical content, yet Ill Follow the Sun sounds so bright and happy, while And I Love Her does not at all.
