That’s odd that your version doesn’t have “Helen Wheels”.  What song do they put in its place?

None – we (OZ and the UK) are a song short.

It seems to be that whole “we won’t put a song on there that people may have already bought – and Helen Wheels was already released so it’s not going on there” thing that also left a lot of Beatles singles off their albums.  That whole thing REALLY annoyed me back then.

[EDIT] As did the re-release; this was one time I feel we should have had the US version; as happened with the “Magical Mystery Tour ” album becoming ‘official’.

Never liked Helen Wheels, delighted it was omitted from the UK edition. Ever since first listen its been a skipper so its now straight to Country Dreamer.

Which was only on the 1993 reissue along with “Helen Wheels” – that is the track-list I would have wanted on the recent remaster with those 2 tracks at the end.

Country Wheels is such a beautiful Macca song. And I can honestly can see him rolling down hills with Linda and the kids in the wilderness of his Scottish farm, standing in streams, and being deliriously happy. Brings Two of Us to mind wearing raincoats in the sun.

Don’t know if anyone else has said this one – ‘Little Willlow’. Forget the Beatles connection (which, admitedly, is how I first came across it), it’s a beautiful song and never fails to bring a few tears to my eyes. A lovely tribute heart

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

I agree, I was watching the McCartney ‘hits’ DVDs again a few days ago and that one stood out for me (well, along with “This One” and “No Other Baby”).

^ When you’ve written as many songs as he has, you’re bound to find examples of him ”recycling lyrics”, so to speak. That’s something you just won’t find with artists who’ve only been around for a few years, or at least you shouldn’t do.

OK. I did criticize him for being late to the Twitter Q&A today. He was probably doing something great for the world that will last for time and eternity, and I sat and criticized him for being 50 minutes late to a social media event. Yeah, I’m not worthy.

Paul was late for a very early audition (one of their first), and he said he was late because he was taking a bath..maybe that’s why he was late for Twitter! (Oooooo…wish I could verify that as a personal witness!) Someone with a much better memory for details than I have can jump in here and tell us the audition about which I am talking!!!

No, according to legend, (don’t know if Lewisohn debunks this), Paul was late for meeting with Epstein when Epstein asked to become their manager because he was in the bath.

It was when they were going to sign for Brian to be their manager wasn’t it? When Paul was questioned about being late after turning up John quickly piped up “but at least he’s clean”.

That’s one of my favourite Beatles quotes! Think it was George who said it though.

Damn! Well that’s me a George-hating, John-biased hack of a fan.a-hard-days-night-ringo-14a-hard-days-night-george-9

John does the clean jokes in AHDN  so there is my excuse.

I knew I could count on you guys to remember the details that have slipped my mind. Now I remember that it was the Epstein meeting. I knew it was something in their very early days. Was that the meeting where Brian discussed their wardrobe? Or, did that come later? There is some question (probably in my mind only) about who wanted the original “Beatles suits?” I’ve heard Paul was the one who loved the idea, and I’ve heard George was the one who sold it hardest to the boys. Obviously, John hated the idea, and wanted to stay in their Teddy Boy leather. At least Paul was clean as a Teddy Boy

I love that part, lol! Especially in terms of the old saying, “butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth.” So, he put it in the pie! Naturally! Hahahahahaha!

In a time to come,

we may discover

what the air we breathe

and the life we lead

are all about.

But it won’t be soon enough

soon enough for me.

Who finds the money

when you pay the rent?

Did you think that money

was heaven-sent?

Friday night arrives without a suitcase

Sunday morning creeping like a nun

Monday’s child has learnt to tie his bootlace

See how they run!

Send me a postcard, drop me a line, stating point of view

(indicate precisely what you mean to say).

Yours Sincerely, Wasting Away

Some boats gone out fishing

Some boats high and dry

Some boats on a mission

to the lonely Lorelei

Some folks got a vision

of a castle in the sky

And I’m left stranded, wondering why.

I have no answer for you, little lamb

I can help you out, but I cannot help you in.

Sometimes we think that life is hard

and this is only one of them.

My heart is breaking for you, little lamb

I can help you out, but we may never meet again.

Dragonfly, fly by my window

You and I still have a way to go.

Don’t know why you hang around my door

I don’t live here anymore.

Growing up

Falling down

People pass me by on my imaginary street,

ordinary people it’s impossible to meet,

holding conversations that are always incomplete.

Well, I don’t know.

Out of work again, the actor entertains his wife

with the same old stories of his ordinary life.

Maybe he exaggerates the trouble and the strife.

Well, I don’t know.

When I fly, when I fly, when I fly,

when I fly above the clouds,

you could knock me down with a feather

(yes you could), but you know it’s not allowed.
