Really loving “Early Days “. Clearly written for John. Ugh, my feels.

I’m convinced that “Road” is about The Beatles. Maybe it’s one of his hybrid songs and it’s about Nancy and The Beatles, but I get more of a Beatles feel, and that makes me love the song all the more.

Listened a bit more, and my current top-5 (oh, ok, my top half-dozen):
On My Way To Work
Get Me Out Of Here (could have been on “Ram “)
Save Us (nice Wings feel to it)
Turned Out / Everybody Out There (hard to split them)

I got that same feeling. Especially from the lines…
“We came from nowhere, hiding from a storm. We clung together to keep each other warm.”
That reminded me of the story in Anthology they told about laying on top of each other in the van to keep warm after Mal had knocked out the windscreen.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Exactly, Zig! That’s the story I was thinking of. And there’s the reference to two crazy partners. I also feel the piano riff (a friend referred to it as “plonky”) harkens to an early Beatles song like “Not A Second Time .”
Glad I’m not the only one.

But then taking the Nancy view. Both were going through marriage break-ups when they met, and probably were not looking to jump into another “deep and meaningful”. I don’t know about Nancy’s, but Paul divorce could certainly be called a “storm” he wanted to hide from. And the clinging together does not necessarily refer to physical warmth, it could also refer to emotional warmth.

Yeah, good points, that’s why I didn’t commit 100% to The Beatles interpretation.

New
Appreciate (I heard it first in your video, @parlance and when I heard the actual song I wasn’t ready for the other part that wasn’t in your video!)
New and Queenie Eye especially are great plus I Can Bet.
Didn’t think I liked the album that much (just prefer the older stuff), but I guess I do since I can’t choose a favorite.

On the “main” album, New, On My Way to Work and Alligator are probably my favorites, but Scared would be my second favorite (after New) if it were on the main album for SURE. I also really love Turned Out.
