I guess this thread could be about any fantasy we could have. Mine may be the guilty pleasure of many songwriters who haven’t made it (there must be thousands maybe millions of us out there). So my fantasy scenario is Paul is somehow stuck in an elevator — let’s say it’s a service elevator in the back of a convention/concert venue (he was trying to make a quick unnoticed exit) — and he has to wait for help to get out. Meanwhile, I happen to be practicing my songs on my guitar within earshot of him and Paul has no choice but to listen as a “captive audience”.

Just gonna preemptively put this out there, not specifically for you, Sea Belt, but just in general: it’s probably best we try to keep this thread Safe For Work

Am I allowed to talk here about Beatles-related fantasies (respectable!) rather than actual dreams? I was sure there was a thread for fantasies but can’t find it – maybe some clever person can re-direct this!
Those of us who were the original Beatlemaniacs and saw them live in the 1960s were, I suspect, living in a fantasy world in many cases.
I’ve just been reading about a girl in my city who was 13 when the Beatles toured New Zealand and she was not allowed to go to the concert. She was strictly raised in a church-going family and she was not allowed to stand outside the hotel in the hopes of seeing them, either. So she lied that she was visiting a friend (this same excuse enabled her to see the Hard Days Night movie twice, also)
Because she couldn’t wear her best clothes and shoes to ‘visit her friend’, she did not know how George was going to spot her in the crowd and realise she was the one he was going to marry! It was winter, she arrived outside the hotel with an hour to kill before they even arrived off the plane, but she said her “fantasies kept me warm”. As it happened her school shoes got so badly damaged by being trampled on in the crowd she had to confess later how it had happened and had to save up to pay for new ones.
I can so relate to this!! I WAS allowed to go to one of their concerts and my parents must have paid for the very pricey ticket. My fantasy was that if I got a seat in the front row (which I did, by being at the box office before anyone else), I could surge up to the front close to the stage (which I did) and then Paul would be sure to spot me in the crowd and want to meet me afterwards in his hotel room. He would arrange for someone to shoulder-tap me after the concert. What was going to happen in his room, I didn’t dare to dream too much about!
These fantasies that we teenagers at the time (and doubtless others after us also) harboured, were so intense and took up so much of our minds! It’s funny now, but I did cry when I realised that Jane Asher (at the time) was the one receiving Paul’s attention and I was not really going to achieve my dreams.

Hi @oldfannz — your fantasy and the story of that other girl, I can see both of those their own way as scenes in a movie.
I had started a thread sort of related, about “Paul fantasies” — mine was that he would be somehow stuck in a situation where he was “trapped” (like a broken elevator or waiting in a car) and I happen to be within earshot (but not visible) playing one of my own songs, so he becomes a captive audience.

Yes, Sea Belt, this was the thread I had spotted earlier and would have posted on it if I had been able to find it! My searching skills aren’t the best.
I reckon Paul would have enjoyed hearing one of your songs and just imagine the two of you sitting down and having a discussion about song writing! Truly mind-blowing!

So sorry I didn’t catch your post in time to move it earlier, @oldfannz.
(If anyone is wondering the last 3 posts were in the Beatles Dreams thread originally.)

@seabelt , it seems that Paul is your favorite Beatle, I had been going through threads you’ve started, and I’ve seen a lot about Paul, is it true?
Just wondering!
