Hey get this, Denny Laine is playing in Concord, about 45 from where I live, and playing Band On The Run (the album) with his band in its entirety. Only $20 for tickets! Debating whether to go, it’s November 13.

I don’t know, I’d like to and it’s an easy drive, the only issue is that Concord is 45 minutes north of Dover (where I live), it’s on a worknight (Wednesday), and I work an hour south of Dover, in Boston, so it’d be a royal pain in the ass. Which is why I probably won’t go. Denny is cool, but if it was Paul I’d make it work

One night with a bit less sleep?
Only $20?
Band On The Run with one of the original players – maybe a few of the Wings songs he sang lead on as well?
What was the question again?

There are a few good McCartney-Laine songs, “Deliver Your Children” being my favorite.
Here’s my personal Denny Laine story. As a young, pre-teenage child, I was (in vain) constantly trying to get my parents to like the music I was listening to. Then one day comes this song “Go Now” by the Moody Blues. It’s got this bouncy piano that would one day would be a McCartney style – but not then. I figured THAT song my parents would like. Well, they didn’t hate it; that’s as close as I would get to recognition.
“Go Now” was of course one of Denny Laine’s main contributions to the Moody Blues (though I don’t think he wrote it). I was shocked and thrilled to hear him play it on Wings Over America . I’m guessing he’ll play it Nov 13.

I like all of Denny’s Wings songs. I Would Only Smile is a brilliant outtake from the Red Rose Speedway sessions and will hopefully see the light of day on an official release in 2098 when we finally get the Archive Deluxe edition.
Wait , it appeared on Japanese Tears. Oh well, still a great song.

This interview with Denny Laine was linked on FB. I don’t know the source of the article, but someone said it was probably published around ’89 or ’90.

I have nothing against Denny, but he always looked so disinterested when he was playing live with Wings.
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

In the clip someone posted above, of him singing Go Now with PM & Wings, he looks pretty into it. Also in Rockshow when he and PM are playing acoustic and Linda is sitting there with a tambourine or something, and McCullogh is there too, when they play I just saw a Face he seems into it enough. If I remember right he’s on 12 string for that number…but I haven’t seen it in awhile.
If you’re into Denny, check out his website here (sorry someone explained how to link it but I can’t figure it out!): http://www.dennylaine.com. It’s not a big site, but it features a half million (usd) guitar that he is apparently trying to sell, and there is also a song dedicated to “PM”. A few other cool videos. I looked and apparently the only show he’s doing this year is 5 hours from me…probably not quite worth it.
Wings was a great band. Jimmy McCullogh was great as well. Laine is a tremendously talented man, it’s kindof interesting the turns his life has taken. I can’t believe he’s not remembered more for his work with the Moody Blues…but then they didn’t really have a frontman, or any “names” that were profiled. Maybe going with Wings was a mistake, maybe he should have fronted a group – he could never have been PM’s equal on stage. I think he’s gone where he wanted to go, and is probably where he wants to be. At least that’s the idea I got from the page. Except, I hate to think he has to sell that incredible guitar to raise money (a ’59 hollow body Gretsch, was used by Townsend in the studio, and limited use on stage, and Laine used it some too – it doesn’t hold tune well enough to really use live). But again I ramble off topic…

I won a pair of tickets to see Denny Laine, courtesy of Rock Cellar Magazine, at a “house concert” last night. Literally, it took place in the very spacious backyard of someone’s castle-like home, and I took as my guest a fellow member of my Beatle singalong group.
I was excited about it to begin with, and it was an epic show! Just like the show @DrBeatle thought of going to, he performed all of Band On The Run . Among his special guests were Peter Asher, Jeff Alan Ross of Badfinger, and for the finale – which was “Go Now,” of course – Denny brought out more guest singers, including one of the Bangles. And afterward, I got a setlist and got Denny to sign it. He was incredibly gracious to everyone, and I’m definitely a fan now.
I posted a few pics to my Instagram: 1 2 3 4. I tried texting @Ahhh Girl so you could follow along real time, but that didn’t work out. We were allowed to bring in DSLRs, so I have better photos coming, along with a fuller account. I didn’t get home until 12:30, and spent a couple of hours doing an initial photo edit. Having awoken briefly to feed the cats, I’m going back to sleep. :->

Matt Busby, your link to Denny Laine’s website included the period at the end of your sentence, so it didn’t work.
Here it is again:

The song Denny Laine co-wrote with Paul — “No Words For My Love” — from Band On The Run , is an excellent song. I wonder what parts of it Denny Laine created?

More info on that concert – Rock Cellar Magazine posted their pics. And The Examiner added a bit more to my story:
More on Denny Laine/Peter Asher: Gay Linvill, who also attended the Denny Laine-Peter Asher concert in Southern California May 31, told us, “It really was fun! One little story that was omitted: After describing the Jimi Hendrix night at the Saville with the Beatles, champagne and hashish, Peter Asher reminded us that also on the bill that night was Denny Laine and his Electric String Band. Asher said he attempted (well) what ELO later accomplished, but many years before. He said he heard one of his favorites for the first time that night, “Say You Don’t Mind,” which they then proceeded to play!”

Inspired by this question about Wings disbanding, I found a few links people might find of interest:
* The afore-mentioned Beatles Rarity article on the subject.
* 1982 interview with Paul
* 1989 interview by Geoffrey Giuliano with Denny
* A 22-part, 2-hour interview with Denny, posted at YouTube. Something Else pulled a few quotes from it.
* Examiner article on Denny working on a memoir with Paul’s help.
And I haven’t been able to find a transcript online, but this is the article that appeared in The Sun, entitled “The Real McCartney,” January of 1984.
