Makes sense. I was thinking more of things like the Batman 60’s tv where captions came flying on the screen like “blam”, “thwack” and “wow!!!”
I actually use that app.

I ran an errand this morning, and as I was station-switching, I caught FourFive Seconds playing on KIIS-FM in LA. Afterward, the DJ and a caller spoke glowingly of the performance.

I think this belongs here:
Diana Krall’s next album will have a song by Paul, “If I Take You Home Tonight,” left over from the Kisses On The Bottom sessions.

I just saw a news story about this song. The album was released last week.
Diana Krall reveals pop side on ‘Wallflower,’ which includes new McCartney song
The newest song is a previously unreleased ballad by Paul McCartney , “If I Take You Home Tonight.”
AP: What was it like working with Paul McCartney on his standards album, “Kisses On The Bottom “?
Krall: That whole time working with Paul was probably one of the greatest experiences in my life. He’s just an amazing, good person. … I was the band leader, piano player and accompanist, and I loved being in that role. Every day it was a joy to come into the studio and see Paul and (producer) Tommy LiPuma work together.
Paul had written some romantic ballads of his own to include on the record, but fortunately for me one song, ‘If I Take You Home Tonight” did not make it on the record. I asked, “Paul, do you think it would be OK if I did the song on my record?” and he said sure. How exciting is it to do a new Paul McCartney song? It’s one of my favourite tracks.

Beatles Reddit had a good discussion about Paul and Kanye. There are a few suggestions for the uninitiated.
Also, here’s the video for Good Morning. I’m not a huge hip hop fan, but this came out about a year after the Murakami exhibit in LA, and I’ve loved it ever since:

Maybe Paul is hoping to teach something to the people he is choosing to work with? Has he done any interviews on these collaborations? Sorry if I’ve missed them.Maybe he lost a bet with Beatrice or one of his grandkids and this is the price he had to pay? Or maybe he took the dare in a game of truth-or-dare? Somebody see what is loaded on Beatrice’s ipod.
May we never see a news story posted by parlance and x-posted here that Paul is involved in a three-way collaboration with One Direction and Justin Bieber.
Maybe he is trying to keep his name out their for the new generation. Or like Annadog said maybe he likes their music.
FourFive Seconds has grown on me. At first I didn’t know what to think of it; however, now I’ve heard it a little bit more like on the radio and tv. Its pretty catchy to me.

Some articles on the SNL40 afterparty. Paul played with Taylor Swift. Prince showed up, but, alas, no collaboration between the two.

I know folk are going to gripe (Paul playing with Taylor = unacceptable) but i think its pretty cool seeing someone so huge as Taylor currently is getting such a buzz out of playing with Paul on an oldie such as ‘I Saw Her Standing There ‘ and Paul enjoying himself playing music which some will think isnt worth his effort to pick up a bass guitar for.

I agree. While some may argue he was flowing the beer, I imagine he was just having fun! Especially after recently I’m slowly trying to break the bonds of my “all modern music is terrible” mindset.

I dont actually mind ‘Shake It Off’ or whatever her other single was called that was released after – oh, ‘Blank Space’. It’s harmless Pop. So what if it doesn’t have lyrics that make you think or wont be voted as one of the greatest songs ever recorded in 43,000 years time.

Saddened by the flack Kanye is getting here (and to a lesser extent Rihanna and Gaga, though I don’t really care for their stuff).
Kanye is nearly on the same plane of talent as John and Paul. His influence of hip hop is almost unparalleled, and across all genres he’s probably a top five producer.
If you’re uninitiated in hip-hop tropes then his best stuff can be a little jarring, but I would really recommend listening to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. If not Beatles level, then it is certainly Pink Floyd level. The College Dropout and Late Registration are also amazing albums, as are The Blueprint and The Black Album (Kanye and Just-Blaze produced the majority of those records, even though Jay Z provided most of the vocals). Yeezus was Lou Reed’s favourite album. Well known bubblegum pop star Lou Reed.
Yes, “FourFiveSeconds” and “Only One” aren’t mind blowing. I’m optimistic that “Piss On A Grave” will be top drawer if we ever hear it (though I suspect it might be another “Carnival Of Light ” or “Celebration”). Don’t detract from Kanye’s talent though. I love Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend and The National, and Kanye is every bit as talented.

Sadly, the flack’s been tame compared to some other social media outlets. Some fans on Paul’s official board have been apoplectic about the collaboration. I was glad to see Al Sussman call out the element of racism that’s permeated some of the reactions (note I said some, not all).
Thanks for starting the hip hop thread.

I can’t say anything about Kanye as a musician, I haven’t listened to much so can’t form a valid opinion, but I really don’t like him as a person even if he is as great as he thinks.
I didn’t like Only One. Lyrics were decent, but I didn’t like that he autotuned the vocals. Would’ve been much better is he just sang it straight. Paul’s part was also pretty minimal, but it must be cool for Kanye to have Paul on the song.
Haven’t listened to FourFiveSeconds yet.

That’s fair enough.
I’m guessing the main thing he is disliked for are the awards shows interruptions. However, it’s worth noting that he lives by the principals he advocates for Taylor Swift and Beck too – he’s given away several awards he didn’t think he deserved. It’s something else telling someone else that you don’t think they were good enough, admittedly.

And it’s not his opinions that are the problem. Thinking someone else is more deserving and outwardly expressing that is great, it’s just rude to interrupt these artists’ moments of glory. The fact that it (almost) happened more than once is a bit too much.
I will attempt to listen to some of his music though, just to be fair. I should listen to 45S already anyway.
