Well, since everyone hates my opinion on John, I might as well extend it. A Day In The Life should have been at least 8 minutes with all 4 beatles singing a different verse.
Actually, that is an interesting thought, but this is getting off topic. What songs on BotR do you like/dislike?
Sorry, it’s just Band On The Run I don’t like. The rest of the album is perfect, but that song’s a sinker.

Well let me tell you these opinions make me see the songs in a different way. Sorry if I insist on this.
And about your opinion for A Day in Life is quite interesting!! Which verse would you choose for each Beatle?

If you guys really want to know, I have completely re-written the song through My pair of John’s eyes. I would have John sing the first verse, George sing the second, Ringo to sing the third, and Paul to sing the last (Not to be contributing to the paul is dead rumor, hehehehehehehe). Also, I’ve completely changed the pace and tempo, not to mention the music itself. John’s is exactly like the original song, kind of like doing an investigation, makes you feel like Sherlock Holmes or something. George’s would be relaxing; cricket sounds, tamburas and sitars, not to mention backing vocal from the other 3. Ringo’s would be cheery, happy, and upbeat. I haven’t thought much about Paul’s part, but I was thinking something along the lines of a Helter Skelter -esque style. He would close the show, and now for the fun part: every opening chord to a beatles song combined (Also including the final chord of the original A Day In The Life ).
What do you guys think?

Sounds interesting. By third verse do you mean the middle eight? I’m not sure about the ending chord thing – I’m not sure a hundred chords played together would sound any good (kind of like slumping forward on a piano), plus it would be completely distorted.

Hahahahahaha, my opinion sucks?
I just think it’s a song with great music (Strawberry Fields Forever ) but horrible lyrics. Oh, and you’re right, Band On The Run isn’t the worst, Uncle Albert is. What a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE song.

It’s just stupid. I really don’t know how to explain it, it’s just so “simple”.
Also, I don’t want to come off as an anti-beatle, I just hate some of Paul’s solo work. Otherwise, he’s a great songwriter/singer/bassist/guitarist/trumpeter/drummer/pianist!

I guess you’re still very young so you don’t understand the possibility of writing real poetry that doesn’t HAVE to make perfect sense.
Hey, I take offence to that. (I know it wasn’t direct at me.) I’m 17 but I love surrealist poetry. Age and maturity do not always walk hand in hand. Besides, liking poetry doesn’t make you mature, and you could quite easily be mature without liking poetry. Everything is subjective.
I’ve never heard Uncle Albert and whatever the other song is that’s attached to it. I read someone praising it on another thread and now I’ve read someone calling it the worst song in the world (although that might be a slight exaggeration – have you ever heard rap music?). Now I’m really intrigued by this song. What album is it on?
It’s on Ram , and was a single too. I love the first half, but the second, oh dear…

I really hate the song. I just wish it would never’ve existed. Otherwise I love Paul’s solo work. Jet could possibly be in my top 10.

Uncle Albert is definately a dividing point for McCartney fans, just like say Maxwell’s Silver Hammer is. Yeah, they are both pretty cheesy songs but, I don’t know I find them both more interesting than say Let It Be or The Long and Boring Song. I mean, Paul came up with some of the greatest ballads of all time, but after a while they get a little boring (at least to me). I like it when Paul attempts to put some fun into his songs, and yeah some of them can turn out a little “kiddy” but they are still great fun. Hey, at least Paul tried something different and fun, whereas Lennon basically took all of the fun out of his music in his solo career…the only funny thing that I can think of is in the song Hold On from Plastic Ono Band where he goes ‘COOKIE!’ but other than that it was just so serious. Oh well, I guess everyone has their opinion and tastes in music.
We’re so sorry….Uncle Albert ….but we haven’t done a bloody thing all day!

This is the first time I hear Uncle Albert /Admiral Hasley. And I must tell that is not worst than other things Macca composed, even the second half that Joe doesn’t comment.
It’s McCartney solo, just that.
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

I just listened to the song “Band On The Run ” today for the first time, and I can safely say that that song is possibly the worst piece of garbage I have ever heard. Every other song on the album is stellar, but that song sucks. In terms of ass-suckage, this surpasses Strawberry Fields Forever . Am I the only one who thinks this, or is there someone else who share’s my disgust?
How strange opinions differ!
Band On The Run is possibly the best solo song McCartney has ever written. The entire album would make my top ten albums of all time….

“Uncle Albert ” was a hit during when I was in high school. I liked it then and now. It had a late-Beatles, Abbey Road , kind of feel.
Paul’s post-Beatle work was hit-and-miss. For every “Too Many People ” there were two glub-glubs like “My Love” and “Silly Love Songs.” That’s unfortunately what domestic bliss does to rock & rollers.

Well the rain exploded with a mighty crash as it fell into the sun. The first one said to the second one there, “I hope you're having fun!”
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.
