75 years of age, multi millionare, accolades and awards that most musicians can only dream of ; firmly embedded in musical history. Why go out touring with all the hassle that goes with it? 75 is not 35. For all things on this earth there is a beginning and an end. The end puts the lid on everything; your life;your best moments.
Imagine falling into a coma in 1964 re-awakening in 2017 to find McCartney touring . Many just wouldn’t believe it..or understand it

A better question would be why not. This is Paul McCartney we’re talking about, a member of The Beatles, a band that did whatever they wanted regardless of what others thought. Paul McCartney loves playing music and he loves playing live and despite his age, he’s very healthy and more than capable of doing a tour and considering he has everything he needs for a tour, it makes perfect sense that he tours.

Because he is musician who loves performing to an audience, just as Ringo does – and Ringo gets far smaller audiences, but still loves going out to play for people.
All of the great blues players continued playing virtually to their death beds. Many of them played their last concerts days before they died. Nobody ever questioned people like BB King going on stage in his 80s, until his last erratic tour at the age of 88 when it was obvious he was ill and wouldn’t last too much longer.
While Paul is fit and healthy, giving enormous amounts of joy to his audiences, surely the question isn’t “Why?” but “Why not?”

He’s a bouncy jovial hip grandfather that still has probably many years or energy left in him. Why not do what he enjoys and play music for audiences.

Other people have said what I would have said but Paul McCartney isn’t the only musician from the sixties that is still touring.
Ringo Starr , The Rolling Stones, Eric Burdon and The Animals, The Who, Roger Waters and David Gilmour from Pink Floyd still tour as well.
There are plenty of people that I have missed but age and money isn’t the most important factor with performing and making music.

OK, Hold fire! . I imagine it’s the same Beatles/Wings song list-and the same old stories re-told?. I’ve never been. To my mind it becomes a bit like one or two characters in Coronation Street; No end; no final curtain, no new horizons; on and on in that dreary street. Even the soundtrack is the same
Bet that’s cheered you up! As for blues artists playing on till old age, truth is a lot of them had no choice as they needed the money !. including BB King. I guess it’s hard to let go…..

To be fair, the set-list does occasionally swap one of Paul’s old songs for another of Paul’s old songs that he’s played before. Exciting times. I’ve seen Paul live; it was awesome; I won’t go again.
As for the question and answer.
Paul wants to play. People want to see Paul play. And Paul has to pay his gas bill somehow.

Perhaps this is why.
Nancy is a party girl — Paul said so in an interview. He wants to stay in with the in-crowd so that he and Nancy can be invited to all the best parties. So he continues to make music (even with “in”-crowd people) and do live shows. Gotta keep that wife of his happy!

Paul should go easy on himself and just do a fall 2019 tour exclusively in Las Vegas.
Yeah. A 2-year residency in Las Vegas where Paul sets up home with Linda.
This can then be tied into the residencies of the Beatles back in the days.

He enjoys to play, he obviously doesn’t need the money. Not only this, but he is still very capable of putting on a really good show, unlike some that are still touring (I point my eyes at Robert Zimmerman). He puts on three hours worth of Beatles hits and a couple of oddballs to play what he wants to play. I saw him last year on my birthday and ever since then I haven’t stopped listening to the man’s gigantic solo catalogue. I’m thankful he’s still going as I get to experience him again this coming September. Bless his soul.

Or maybe he does it because he knows his band mates need the money.
