I'm listening to it right now and I realize that there is not a single song on this album I would skip!!
All in all a very “folky” and happy touch to the music, and Denny delivers his best songs as a member of Wings.
Do you make it your life mission to make me need to buy all these albums?

Girlfriend – When I heard it, I thought of Michael Jackson, and indeed it was written for him. Maybe a minute too long, but still superiour to Michaels version
And that's a surprise? I love that track.

Actually, I have been re-assessing his music. It's middle of the pack now. And all this re-assessment is your fault!! (Though, some more remasters are coming out in late May/early June. Until then my opinions may be a tad slanted.)

I love London Town . I have to say I'm Carrying and Famous Groupies are probably my favorite songs from it. My least favorite would have to be Cafe on the Left Bank. I like the lyrics, but the music sounds weird to me. I also love Girlfriend and Name and Address. This album displays Paul's versatility quite well…songs that sound like Elvis, MJ, and purely Paul? I'll take it! It's one of my favorite to listen to on vinyl.

Well, I absolutely love this album. My only beef is the lack of hard rocking stuff. It came after the punk boom, and yet it had a very acoustic and happy feel to it. Great album, but the fact it was a commercial flop is certainly understandable.

Blast it all! I’ve watched too many episodes of Law & Order!
The song “Children Children” sounds like something a child molester would sing.
Darn it! I wish I could see it as just a sweet song, but I am tainted by watching too many of those %$#7* shows

That’s why I don’t watch much TV… especially not those cookie-cutter lawyer/law-enforcer shows.
This is probably my third favorite Wings album (after Band On The Run and Venus And Mars ). “Deliver Your Children” is one of the most criminally underrated Wings songs, as is the almost medieval-sounding “Don’t Let It Bring You Down.” “Cuff Link” is a cool, synth-driven groove that sort of foreshadows his work on McCartney II .

I’ve pretty much given up t.v. too. I haven’t watched L&O for over a year. The only show I’ve followed recently is “Downton Abbey”. Other than that, I’ve watched a random History channel show or two and a smattering college football games.

I think London Town is a REALLY good, underrated (and understated) album. Made under very weird and unsettled conditions (on a boat in the Carribbean, as the classic Wings lineup was falling apart, Linda unexpectedly pregnant, etc). Pretty experimental as far as Wings albums go, too, with all of the little instrumental bits and shorter songs (I really like Cuff Link, in particular), and the epic Morse Moose and the Grey Goose closing the album.
I do get a little creeped out by the fact that both of Denny’s songs deal with children, though Was he foreshadowing Paul’s collaborations with Michael Jackson?

Ew, now that creeps me out too.
So it’s not just me that sees this strangeness. That makes me feel a bit better. Thanks, DrBeatle.

I really liked this album when it came out – currently trying to track down a CD at a decent price.
I gave up on trying to find this and other Wings CD’s at a decent price, and just downloaded them on Amazon. I’ll buy reissues if they ever come out.

^they’ll be coming out. Venus And Mars and Speed of Sound are due out early in 2014, and after that the only Wings ones left will be Wild Life /Red Rose Speedway , and London Town /Back To The Egg .

I like With a Little Luck. I like the entire album…great record. Honestly, Back To The Egg is the worst Wings album and the one I listen to least. Some great songs on there (Getting Closer, Old Siam Sir, Arrow Through Me, Spin It On) and some weak sauce. Daytime Nighttime Suffering, which was the B-side to Goodnight Tonight, is killer…both of those should’ve been on the album instead of non-album single!

Relistened to this on Sunday. The first two tracks are instant skippers (Café on the Left Band being the worst) and Famous Groupies is tripe but aside from that its a good album. Have always loved With A Little Luck, especially the instrumental section after it seems to be stopping, and both Children Children and Girlfriend are fabulous songs, enjoyable feel and great vocals (had no idea Jacko had a version of Girlfriend, no interest in hearing it).
Deliver The Children is such a great song, one of those buried treasures in Macca’s catalogue that deserves to be unearthed.
Every time I hear I’ve Had Enough I always think Paul is swearing, where it actually goes “I should be worried but they say
It will pay for a bomb, oh” I always hear “it will pay. For f**k!”. [I hear Paul swearing in Lend Me Your Comb so what do I know.]
Used to love Back To The Egg but over the years its lost some of the allure. I adore Love Awake and After The Ball but the other two songs on either pairing (Winter Rose and Million Miles respectively) are uninspiring.
The whole LPfeels like a forced effort to give this idea of a concept (Reception, We’re Open Tonight being welcomings, So Glad To See You Here a thanks for coming, Baby’s Request (like the song, love that kind of music) the soft closing number as people get their things), which never really works.
The Broadcast deserves to be appreciated. Classics Rock have a blog on the song which is got some interesting information on how the track came about and the sources for the material spoken.
