I was listening to The Ballad Of John And Yoko … and I don't get why they were looking for a place to get married. Was it because of the notice you have to give before marrying?

Offline Remember that this was shortly after Paul and Linda's marriage. John and Yoko wanted a more private affair, which they would not get in the UK. They tried to get married on a boat, but couldn't, and couldn't marry in France (it didn't help that they forgot their passports- “the man in the mack said “you've got to go back””. Lennon being a British citizen, they could marry in the bit of Spain we own.
