To solve the argument with your missus…….Ask her to name a hero from the last 20 years.

Work from there.

John’s no hero……..but he may rival her suggestion.

I don’t think he would be the superman type hero. He might be more like Batman who has a lot of personal stuff weighing him down though he tries to do good

He’s an important person. Everything else is just how you want to interpret it.

You can say that for every other Beatle, but John made a bigger impact on everyone. That’s my opinion at least, how you measure the “impact” is clearly subjective.

As for his flaws, many important people had a lot of flaws and sometimes were evil, almost. It still doesn’t make them less important.

I consider him an icon, just like Elvis or anyone similar. I think he deserves to be mentioned in history books, along with other three. It’s a whole new culture for heaven’s sake!

He was a hero to me, perhaps the first real person I considered a hero.  My parents were very much aligned with the whole peace & love society as John (and the others) espoused, so I was too.

The following people thank Matt Busby for this post:

Lennonista

Half of what I say is meaningless...

I feel good in a special way, I'm in love and it's a sunny day
