None of the Beatles or their Estates want ‘Let It Be ‘ out as none of them enjoyed or look back at the time positively.
Ringo looks so bored at times you think he’s going to start playing with the electrics to bring some life into the rehearsals.
John’s appearance doesnt exactly fit in with the image we are now fed of him thru Yoko.
Paul is so over controlling and up himself at times its tough to watch.
George would rather be anywhere else and often shows it.
And yet fans want it out on dvd!!
It was supposedly meant to have been coming out along with the ‘Let It Be Naked’ album in 2003 but then hundreds of hours of new and better quality footage was miraculously found and it never did.

Maybe that explains George’s electric shocks from his guitar. “Dance, Georgie, dance!” He had his drum pedal fixed to give George a shock whenever he wanted!

It wasn’t footage that was found, it was the Nagra tapes. A police raid on bootleggers in January 2003, taking place in England and the Netherlands, recovered around 500 of the original Nagra tapes, with five people arrested. There was the thought that that was going to put things back a little, and still we sit here drumming our fingers and waiting.

As the Beatles began to spiral out of control one of their arguments was in musical direction – both John and George despised Paul’s more corny tunes – this became an on-going issue between them even after the break up.
I think what made The Beatles work was John’s counterbalance to Paul’s corny songs. I think John and George were right here to a degree that the corny songs were a negative. The reason I say this is that if you talk to someone who dislikes The Beatles and you ask them which songs they don’t like, they will most likely quote you a list of corny Paul songs. I know, because I used to be that person, and I disliked The Beatles because of the corny Paul songs. Now that I’m a fan, though, I’ve grown to like the corny songs. I think only fans (and children) like the corny songs.

I think this discussion proves one point: Paul can never win.
- When he’s being mister thumbs aloft, he gets slammed for sugarcoating history.
- When he’s showing humility, people say he’s dishonest and a hypocrite.
- When he’s trying to be open about things that irk him, he receives flak for chipping away at John’s legacy.
- When he’s expressing pride in his achievements, he’s called an arrogant SOB
No matter what he says or does, he’s f****d. I don’t envy him. I’m sure he can be an egotistical prick, but let’s be fair here: he simply can’t win in the eyes of many John and George fans.
ETA: ET proves the criticism applies to all aspect of Paul’s career. When he writes a good rocker, people’ll say he tries to imitate John. When he writes a ballad, people dog on him for writing granny s**t. Like I said: he can’t win.

I think he does great ballads. And beginning in the late 60’s/early 70’s, he rocked. He didn’t rock consistently (in my opinion) in the early Beatles.
When I say corny songs, I don’t mean the ballads. I mean things like Yellow Submarine , Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Rocky Raccoon and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer .

If anyone thinks ‘I Saw Her Standing There ‘, ‘Oh! Darling ‘, and ‘I’m Down ‘ are granny music they need to be admitted to the psychiatric hospital for urgent medical checks.
I do find it strange that folk are quite willing to pick out tracks like ‘Rocky Raccoon ‘ as proof of Paul writing corny tracks but John’s ‘Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill’ gets totally ignored.

What are you on about ?
Paul has ‘won’. Anyone with a brain knows what a brilliant songwriter he is,and how he led the beatles for years. He helped tear them apart in the process -but thats another story.
What’s baffling is why he is still irked by and still trying to compete with a man who has been dead for 35 years. That’s just f*****g sad and makes me wonder about the state of his mental health. Let it go and please let john rest in peace instead of using him in some pointscoring exercise about how hard done to poor paul has been.
I mean really.

I think Paul would be very happy to let John rest in peace. Problem is, he gets asked about John every single time he gives an interview. And 5 minutes on the Interwebz will clearly show that in the eyes of the majority, John still outshines Paul in every single way. I can’t even begin to count the times I’ve seen people say John was the [only] genius in the band, and that Paul’s canon can be summarised in two words: Frog Song.
There is a startling amount of Paul hate out there. And not just on YT and FB, but even right here on the Fab Forum. I won’t, but I could name at least 3 Forumpudlians off the top of my head who regularly voice their contempt. It’s everywhere: not just social media, but everywhere. If I were Paul, I’d get sick of it too. Just because he’s 73 and famous, doesn’t mean he’s immune to the crap people say about him. He can never win when people compare him to John, because John is no longer here and has been made into some sort of saint. You can’t compete with a dead saint, Trust me, I’ve seen this happen in my immediate family. I don’t believe Paul wants to compete at all; he loves John too much for that, but nobody seems to want to let it go. And should Paul say: “Sorry, but I’m no longer answering questions about John,” people will be all over him all over again, saying he’s bigheaded and thinks the Beatles are beneath him.
Like I said: he can’t win. You might not see it, but many people can.

Thats the biggest problem for Paul – no matter what he does he’s not only saddled by being compared to all things Beatles (and fair enough no ex-Beatle can do anything to compete with them) but all things John (which should be more balanced a comparison but generally is not).
@Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^< is quite correct in that if Paul doesnt answer a John question he’s going to be slated by many for not showing the proper respect to his long dead partner who got Paul to where he is today (you can see the headline – ‘Macca blanks Lennon in Interview‘); yet if he does he’s either using John’s/The Beatles legacy to sell whatever it is he’s doing, crapping all over it all for whatever he says regardless of what he actually said, or accused of rewriting history. He’s screwed before he opens his mouth and more often than not the folk who do it actually dont give a s**t what he says, theyre only interested in slating him.
And its not woe is poor Paul as I think he’s an idiot for frequently bringing up songwriting credits and trying to readdress what has gone before having not learnt the lessons.

You think paul didn’t know he was going to be asked that question, of course he did. He probably seen the questions in advance before he agreed to do it, he quite clearly wanted to start the “martyr” bollocks about lennon again. What pisses me off most about it is that John’s death didn’t make him”elevated to a james dean figure” who only really got credit after his death for his short canon of work – Johns body of work was lengthy and lauded and respected throughout his life. Indeed with punk and post punk it was very much his style that was returning to vogue again.
It’s quite simple to come out with something respectful and loving about john (like he has a hundred times before) and just leave the whole topic alone but time and again he dredges up stuff from the past that he really should be big enough to get past now. If i had a pound for every time i’ve heard the “brian and john carved up the songwriting titles” story i’d be a millionaire.
I get the impression that even if he was acknowledged as the beatles prime mover (and i’m happy enough to do so) and all the songs were changed to mccartney/lennon that it would be something else like a lot of power trippers.
To quote one of his own songs he should “let it be”. What does it matter anymore?

Right there – that’s the whole point I was also making a few pages earlier. Paul has won – he needs to be magnanimous. Above it all. That’s what adults do.
Paul can easily answer questions about John, just not questions that pit them against each other. Paul keeps getting those questions because he keeps answering them. He’s putting the gasoline on the fire.
If he said, “Look John and I were mates and partners. Let’s talk about how we worked together, how we were creative in the studio. Let me tell you what it was like to play on stage with John.” That would be fascinating stuff. Instead Paul takes the bait and complains about a man who has been dead for 35 years!!
It’s unseemly.
Oh, I am a huge fan of Paul’s/

That’s the crux of the matter, it shouldn’t matter but for some reason to Paul it does. God knows why. Does anyone see Lennon/McCartney on ‘Yesterday ‘ and think Paul comes second on that, he must have have done less than John? If they do they’re morons. Does anyone look at Rodgers/Hammerstein and think Hammerstein was of less value, importance and ability? Same as with Goffin/King.
Maybe Paul and Yoko should agree that from now on both names are written on top of each other. Oh, but who’s on top? If John is written above Paul’s than he’s obviously more important and if its the other way around then Paul need to be propped up by John. Its like a 3 year old fighting over who gets to use the blue crayon first. The other thing is Yoko comes out of it better than Paul as she just has to sit back with her feet up and watch.

“You can’t compete with a dead saint, Trust me”
So why does he keep asking for it then ? Looking for comparisons with his “not so good work” ? The thing with the IPAD actually made me LOL i can just see him putting his foot through the screen with rage when it stops before his name on the songwriting credit. I can actually see him petitioning the house of lords about it before he croaks.
Everyone knows which songs were Paul’s and which were Johns- this is not a small act we are talking about here. I think his comments about lennon were spiteful and needless.

Let’s not forget that while Bungalow Bill is silly, it is also quintessentially John, because it was written to make fun of an actual person.
